The reality is the IAT is located in the lid. The lid is plastic/composite and was extremely hot when I got home. Hot enough that I couldn't keep my hand on it for more than a second or two. I'm sure the intake was even hotter since it's attached to the engine.

i just get annoyed by all the "composite = cooler intake air charge" stuff... i doubt it makes a ton of difference...

also another point ill make, metal should also loose its heat faster after the engine is shut off than a plastic intake... this would help in a track situation...

He is correct grasshopper. I will bring results Friday. The only thing that could be a variable is that my car is not stock and is tuned. I will see about maybe getting the pcm reset before each pull to get more accurate numbers. All mods that are on my car are in my sig. Like I said earlier, I will give it a dyno before I change the intake out even though I havn't done anything since the last dyno(pretty much for air temp and humidity reasons). 3 days grasshopper.

I think the best and easiest way would be just dyno the baseline as is (tuned).
Are you going to check A/F and possibly retune?
If so then we can do a comparison of both; tuned.

I don't think untuned numbers would be more useful considering your other mods.

What do you think?

How long did it take you to get your intake? It seems like my order is taking along time to process.

It took me about a week to get the intake after I ordered it. My car will get retuned for the new intake, but I would like to get a dyno before so we can get an idea of power from just the intake. The guys that I'm having do it know what they're doing, so they should hook me up. We'll see what happens.

Hey Zeus, i'm also here in Fayetteville and would love to see your car after you get it ironed out with the intake. It would be nice to see this thing in person. Let me know what you think.

Will the throttle bodies work with a '98? 98 F-body LS1's have two cables coing to the throttle cam, one for cruise control and one for the actual throttle cable.

My cruise hasn't worked in like 3 years because I didn't care to start tracing wires so it's not an issue for me.

Zues, do you have a digital camera? I can't wait to see this thing installed! I don't understand how there can be so little info out on it. I mean don't the people who design, prototype, and test these things have any enthusiasm for the product? If I were involved, I'd publish tons of pics and tests and call up the magazines.
Unless my product sucked. ...uh oh

My 02 has two cables as well. All 98-02 f-bodies that don't have TCS have two cables. The reason for this is that the ones which do have TCS, use that TCS for the cruise control as well, so they don't need the extra cable to the throttle body for the cruise. Thats the easiest way to tell if you have TCS or not. 1 cable = TCS 2 cables = no TCS

I do have a digital camera and I will take pictures and post them. Hopefully I will get my strut tower brace by Saturday. I ordered a Hotchkis polished strut tower brace just because I thought it would look cool with a polished intake.

anybody have a real life dyno of LS1 to LS6 intake swap? I am on a super tight budget (house, wife, 1yr old boy,etc...) and I got it in my head that this is a easy mod I need. Is it? Thanks all. I figure this it the best place to ask this question because all of you are on this thread like sharks circling a sinking boat.
