The 85mm throttle body won't be available for probably around another 2 months. I will be getting one as well as soon as it comes out.

This is the way I look at it...This manifold is about 30lbs, a little heavier than the LS6 obviously. Its aluminum, so yes, it will take in more heat than the LS6. BUT, I'm not worried about losing a few horses on the street due to heat soak, I worry about the track. So I ice it down between runs. Problem solved. It made more power than the Weiand, which makes more than the LS6. So if it weighs me down a little, the extra horses will pick me back up. And its a hell of a lot nicer looking than the LS6 and you get new fuel rails. As long as this thing fits on my car and doesn't make less horsepower than the LS6 it will be staying on the car. So we'll see what happens and I'll let everyone know. I'll probably even post a pic or two.

Does the Wieland in fact make more than an LS6 manifold?

My main motivation for placing my order for one these vs an LS6 is the fact that you can get a 85mm TB and intake combo so inexpensive. If you checked out that TPIS dyno comparison a little while back, the TB has a major impact on the gains you'll see from an intake. SO while a Prof Prod intake might only be a few horses more than an LS6, an 85mm prof prod. combo is going to make significantly more power.

It's like a mid point between ls6 and FAST.

this could definetly be an awesome new item for the LS1 aftermarket, if indeed takes a place in-between the FAST and the LS6. Personally I am not worried about heat-soak, and if the performance is equal or higher to an LS6, its what i will get.

Another point i don't often see made is that if anyone here data logs, then they would notice that on an average to hot day (outside temp) the IAT (intake air temp) is usaully close 100 degrees. I don't see how having an Intake that is not significantly warmer will have a huge effect on hp if the air is already that hot. I don't think the intake is going to be much hotter than that especially if your fan settings are adujusted to keep ECT temps under 190 and keep air moving across the engine bay at all times.

Also this may help with driveability during the colder winter months. An intake that is faster to warm up may help bring the car up to operating temp slightly faster, and therefore cut back slightly on the added fuel cost that cold driving brings...

would the 85mm be too big for a stock size motor?

I don't think so. The 96mm definitely would be I think unless you are spinning some crazy RPMs. The more I think about it, the more I am leaning towards the 85mm version myself once I see some results and a throttle body.

The 85mm combo might be just what you need to overclock your car

According to this, it looks like the LS6 out-performs the Weiand.

I like your thinking. I have been in stop and go traffic in hot weather and saw +145* IAT (with the a/c on) and a LS6 intake. I was surprised to see such high temps. Ambient: 95*, ECT: 198*, IAT: 145*. Normally the ECT is 190* with the a/c off. When I looked at the logs the IAT's never went below 115* even after I passed the traffic.

The reality is the IAT is located in the lid. The lid is plastic/composite and was extremely hot when I got home. Hot enough that I couldn't keep my hand on it for more than a second or two. I'm sure the intake was even hotter since it's attached to the engine.

Ya, I mean heat rises so how much cooler than the engine can the intake be?
All things equal, plastic is better but I don't think it's a huge difference. Will we ever get a real answer? Probably not.
