I have a C5 EGRless intake that is just sitting in my closet and I basically have done away w/the egr system on my Formula...I cut off the egr tube flush w/the peice that bolts to the manifold normally and filled it with JB weld and let it harden...that has done great and I was able to ditch all my EGR crud...
My question is It's not a Z06 intake (Which I can't find to save the life of me) but would There be any gain by swapping to the C5 intake...I know it would look a little better, but other than that what are the benefits if any?
Thanks in Advance..

Well the C5 intake without the EGR setup is an LS6 intake. The intake is not specific to the Z06. All 01 Fbods recieved the LS6 intake, as did corvettes. So yes there will be a bit of a performance gain, but it really depends on your mods. If you have a fairly stock vehicle you probably won't see any more than 10hp or so, maybe less. However if you are running heads and cam, or plan to in the future, it will be more beneficial. Personally, if you already have it, and you don't mind doing the work, I would put it on. I will be putting one on my car when I do my headers, or shortly thereafter, so that I can get rid of the EGR and reep the full benifits of heads and cam package when I get around to that sometime next summer.

All C5 intakes did not come with EGR.
All LS6 intakes do not have EGR provisions.
All C5s do not have LS6 intakes.
The C5 intake is not necessarily an LS6 simply because it does not come with EGR. If the plenum is flat then you have an LS6, if it has some ridges in it and the plenum floor sits closer to the runner roofs then you have a LS1 intake.
To answer your question, the only advantage you would have by swapping to that intake is to get rid of your JB weld job if it worries you.

Thanks for the input, this is a 00' or 99' C5 intake, I don't believe it's the LS6 cause the floor isn't flat....The work is fairly easy so I might just do it to take away that Ghetto Rig, but it's worked for awhile.
Yes I plan on H/C here soon, GTP Stage 2 LS6 heads, and either an MTI C2 (224/224 .581/.581 112LS) or TR (230/224) cam...I have headers, stall, and all the supporting hardware...
I appreciate the input guys!!

Another quick identifier is that a pre-LS6 C5 intake will not have the metal threaded inserts for the F-body throttle cable bracket. Just another tidbit! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

I did not check my intake I just ordered it for $385 shipped. It was to be a new z06 intake. Its new but I am taking it off to be sure its a z06. I dont understand where the ridges would be located. I am looking at the old one now. Are they supposed to be in the curves.
Please help.
