Default GMMG vs Loudmouth ...

Can some tell me the flow rates/gains between these 2? Also what is the sound difference in loudness at idle and low throttle - below 2k. I have a Highway Patrol lives right across the street lol. The clips from gmmg's site seem pretty loud - they were rumbling about as much as qtec's clip opened. I'm sure (hoping) live is a lil more reasonable??

I've heard several GMMG's on other cars (never from inside the car though) and I don't think it sounds much different than my LM. They are both loud. The LM is tame at idle, resonates around 2000-2500rpm under load, and is very loud at WOT. If your car is an M6 then its pretty easy to keep it quiet.
As far as flow goes the LM is hard to beat, but I see the GMMG being comparable. IMO, the fact that the LM costs about half as much would be the deciding factor.

Well I have the GMMG on my 00 Hawk and my firend has a Loudmouth on his 99 TA. I put both systems on the same weekend and we did some comparisons. The loudmouth is just a hair louder than the GMMG. The loudmouth will absolutely scream at WOT, but the GMMG will do its share of screaming too. Flow numbers should be close, but I am sure the loudmouth would probably be a bit better because it has a turn or 2 less than the GMMG.

In my opinion the loudmouth is obnoxious especially on the highway. My GMMG will cruise in 6th gear with no resonance at all even at speeds around 80 or so. The loud moht will just drone and drone and drive you nuts - it has driven my friend nuts allready. I also think the GMMG would probably be better for "sneaking" out at low RPMs. Just don't put long tubes on with the GMMG becaues that will be truly loud.

Yes - running the M6. OK then everything is pointing towards the LM's. Thx, Ren.

Ha ... or maybe not tough call here.

I haven't heard tht GMMG exhaust, but I do have the Loudmouth installed on my 'bird. I have an A4, and it is very loud at certain speeds. Primarily during acceleration from a stand still and at highway speeds. Just adjust plus/minus a few MPH and it goes away. I like it best between 70-75 MPH....it really hums then. I just drove it approximately 250 miles today on a club cruise and I was running 70 MPH most of the day...yeah it was loud, but I like it that way! I had two of my buddies in the car with me a day ago, and I warned them up front that if they didn't like the sound they were free to get out at any time! Buy it cause you like it not cause your friends may or may not.....You'll be fine with leaving your home with the LM. The Highway Patrol officer won't hear you unless you mash on the gas all the time.

Don't mean to hurt any feelings, but the loudmouth sounds horrible. No way I would put that junk on my 32k car. Guys are getting ripped off, when they think they are saving some $ by buying a low cost system. It's just a bunch of cheap exhaust tubes. SLP is raping people. Many have to blow more money on bullet mufflers, ect. (just look at other posts on this page, or do a search and find more). Get the GMMG, or a system you can adjust to your liking, like a Borla. You get what you pay for. BTW, no one has ever showed gains of any cat back v.s. another that I have seen.

I'm sorry but I have to agree with the last couple of guys. I had both on my last LS1 and I like the GMMG a LOT better. So much so that I re-installed it on my new LS1.

If you want the LM sound, save your money and get a cutout(because it sounds just like it). To me personally, it is just loud noise with no rumble/tone. The only benefit to this exhaust is that it is real light(but the GMMG ain't exactly heavy).

The GMMG is more refined WITHOUT that annoying LM drone. The GMMG does not have any drone at all on my M6. The GMMG is quieter at idle, rumbles noticeably while cruising, and is equally loud to a LM at WOT. I've seen actual dyno test by other board members to prove that both flowed roughly the same as each other. The GMMG is expensive, but you do get what you pay for. The adjustable Borla would be a good second choice behind the GMMG IMHO.

Seems everyone has an opinion, personally, ive only heard vid clips, and i'd lean to the GMMG. Just something about it sounds better to me.

Does any of the shops sell the GMMG? Or does GMMG the only people who sell it? I was planning on getting the LM in a couple of weeks but I might as well save up and get the GMMG!

the only people that bitch about LOUDmouth are people that have nothing else to bitch about. i have LOUDmouth and love it. i have no problems hearing the radio or a passenger. save the money and weight, you won't regret it unless you like to bitch. if that's the case then you won't be happy till you spend too much money.

I have the SLP Loudmouth on my 01 Trans Am WS-6 M6. I absolutely love it and get compliments on it all the time. Unless your some kind of a sissy, and afraid of loud htings, you should go with the LM. It definately rumbles and it in no way whatsoever sounds like an open exhaust 6. Just my 2 cents.

I have had a couple different exhaust setups on my car and by far the best sounding was heads, cam, manifolds, cats, slp ypipe and loudmouth.

The car just sounded mean all the time.

There was a little bit of drone around 2200, but nothing that couldn't be avoided with an m6.

Then I got macs and loved the way the car drove but wasn't really happy with the sound. I had dual bullets in the ypipe and it was still too loud for my wife but not to me. The pitch seemed to get a little higher with the macs.

I've since switched to a custom ypipe with no bullets, and a ws6 exhaust. I like the way it sounds at idle and above 4000 at wot but hate it in between. The rasp is driving me nutz.

The exhaust is one thing I really am unhappy with on my car. I've talked to a lot of people and it seems its a function of all alluminum (block, headers, ypipe ect.) and the fireing order.

Sorry guys, I'm tempted to go back to cast iron manifolds just to get back to the sound I was at.

I waited a year to put a catback on my car and it ended up going with the Loudmouth, looking back on it now I should have put an order in for the LM the day after I got the car…

Depending on if you have cats or not changes the way the loudmouth sounds… I have my cats gutted… I can’t wait to get some longtube’s the other end of it

I really think it’s a great system for the money
I don't think you could go wrong with ether system
