Default Fast 90/90 & stock exhaust manifold

I have not done headers yet and I was wondering if I do the 90/90 will I still see some HP gain and if so how much? I do have loud mouth and would it be a good idea to gut the cats?

I would highly suggest not going with a fast 90/90 until you have more mods (cam, heads, headers). Your car will have some drivability issues. If you really want a fast the go with the fast 78.

You would see more gains than from it than switching to an LS6, but it is not worth the cost to you yet. You could almost do a cam and mail-order tune for what it would cost you. Headers should be your next priority though. Can you not run them or something?

It's a good mod if you've got the money, but you could spend it in other places right now. Suspension, stall, tranny work, exhaust could help you greatly.

The FAST 78mm is not worth the trouble, as the gains are only minimally better than an LS6.

Going to do headers in the future but why would there be drivabilty issues do you mean there is no gains at all in doing this?

Blur, your input is always good man,Its just i have two issues in my head about headers one is car registration here is once every two years and my Z28 has 13 months left and if I do headers I want ory with electric cut outs but this will get me no registration cause no cats so I was thinking about doing everything else in the meantime and next year the day after I get my rego I will delete egr & air pump(2nd issue) and add headers.
Oh yeah rego here costs about $1000usd.

Well from the info have have gathered. Is the the fast 90 intake is meant more for higher compresson, bigger cubed, or mod cars period. And heard about alot of cars having surging issues when going with a fast 90 on lightly mod car

the 78 is a nice choice, I gained 11 hp over the ls6, however it was slightly colder on the second dyno day. but if you plan on nitrous or fi, the gains increase, as well as the benefits, like burst panels, and ready for direct port.

The 90, definatley not for you right now!!! you need other things first, take a look at my sig, I am not even ready yet. Things you need before it is even a consideration is a decently big cam, full exhaust, heads and maybe even some more cubes.

With those mods and the FAST 90, your car will feel pretty soggy! The LS6 is a better intake untill you do a big heads/cam or stroker.

With proper tuning work, you could see gains from a FAST 90/90. But, bolting it onto a stock car (which you will most likely do) will probably result in driveability issues that outweigh the benifits.

My outlook on the FAST 90/90 for a stock/cammed car is much like putting 1-7/8" headers on a cammed or h/c car.

I would look into other things to spend money on untill you can actually take advatage of it (or run out of things to spend money on ).
