How to get intake hissing sound...
Some motors sound great sucking in air and bad on the exhaust side.
I take my hatch for example as its zipping by sounds great once it passes it sounds booty.
n/a LS1s you hear the kicking exhaust and maybe cam thats about it.
If you don't know what I'm talking about here's a pic.

How about you reserve your rolling-eyed smilies for a topic you actually know something about? He told you the truth about the K&N filters, whether or not you believe it is your thing, but it's been proven time and time again that they aren't worth much (if anything) on our cars. And his estimate on the HP you'll gain with the lid is dead on. But from the looks of this thread, you really don't know **** about anything we're discussing here. I truthfully and good-heartedly suggest you do some research about stuff we're talking about here.
How about you go buy some whistle tips? Those will surely give you some sweet sounds.
First of all, who is Dark Vader? You mean "Darth Vader"? Secondly, why would you want your car to sound like a hyperventilating James Earl Jones?
Besides, how would you even go about making your car suck in air like that?! As suggested by others, your best bet would be a turbo or a supercharger if you're looking for some cool sounds, but the turbo is going to give you more of a whooshing and the supercharger will get you a whistling or a whine.

That won't make you any friends around here.If you're looking for that sound, I'd suggest going with the FIPK-style intake, either homemade or purchased. However, if you buy one, plan on spending significantly more than a lid on it. The manufacturers such as K&N are pretty proud of their products in terms of selling those, hence why not many people buy them. Also, the "Ram Air" that you seem to be crazy about is nothing more than a marketing slogan by Pontiac. The higher airbox on the WS6s certainly does provide a bit more intake of cooler outside air than stock (or better than the crappy SS hood design for it), but isn't worth much at all, seeing as the nostrils aren't sealed off to the airbox. If you want that, buy the kit from LS1speed.com I believe that makes the direct pathway from the underside of the hood to the bottom of the airbox. Outside of that route or some form of the Super Sucker Ram Air kit, your factory Ram Air isn't doing much at all for power. Good luck in your search for getting what you want.

If you're hood is already sealed, then great job on that. Definitely works better than the stock way.
As for wanting that sucking sound as you heard on your dad's Grand Prix.... it will be harder to get out of an F-body. For one, the setup of the intake just isn't the same and doesn't quite have much of a tendency to make a "sucking" sound. The valvetrain and exhaust noises on our cars prevent us from hearing it much. My buddy has an 03 3.4-liter Impala that we created a homemade intake for and it creates quite a suction sound, but as I said, the sound can be different on every car. You can achieve it, but not quite to the extent you're looking for. Once again, I'd reccomend a setup such as the $300 K&N FIPK induction on this link:

As said before, you aren't going to gain much, if anything, over the power you'll get from a $100 lid, but it might make a bit more of a sucking sound if that's what you're trying to gain. Also, you might have to take off your weatherstripping for the sealed airbox if you get this, because now the air should just rush onto the outside of the filter from the WS6 nostrils.
