I had a 2001 Grand Prix. I know the sound you are referring to... It had a 3" polished aluminum intake pipe with a cone filter on the end....

I really think the metal pipe really intensified the sound...

I also think it's a characteristic of those cars.

I'd rather have the LS1 with no hiss..... but loud exhaust!

go with an open air type filter, like a volant or a K&N FIPK and you will get the hissing sound.

Get a snake, put it in the glove box and kick the box when you floor it.

Personally it sounds like a good excuse to get a turbo kit.

Haha I hear ya. I originally was using the wix until i cleaned my k&n, but then saw the dyno numbers and still have the paper filter in there.

If you have an LT1 then the Arizona Speed & Marine or SLP CAI will get you closer to the sound you want.

I have a 96 LT1 Ram Air. The stock TB and stock intake would make a loud hissing sound, but as soon as I replaced the TB and ported the intake, it quited itself down considerably.
