No one's really completely sure. On other cars it might give some decent power, but... it's just an air filter. On our cars, it won't get you any power over a regular FRAM air filter, so you may as well just save your money.

Good answer below as well from 98Z28MASS:

When I had my car tuned at dez racing Don had to remove the maf screen due to the oil getting on it.
He's right. With the K&N reusable filter, you have to clean it and re-oil it in between uses. People found recently that putting too much of this oil on the filter would end up getting it back on their MAF screen or sensor and mess it up. So you see that it's just basically not worth the trouble to spend $50+ on a K&N filter that won't get you any power and could cause problems. Better to just spend $5-7 and get a cheap paper one that works just as well.

I noticed we were veering off as well (partially due to myself) and tried to get it back on track. Good change on the title as well.

Just get a lid and call it good. You will hear a little more 'hissing'.

And with a post like this, I have no idea what you have been doing for the last 800 posts...

Unless you are going for looks, the smooth bellow is somewhat of a pointless mod. Just trying to save you $.

Bingo...I added a ported TB and get a loud hissing noise from the car. Drives me insane. If that's the noise you're going for then I suggest adding one of those.

And for the other guys saying a K&N doesn't pick up much. I've dynoed back to back with a paper filter and a Holley power shot (not a K&N but you get the point) along with descreening the MAF, I picked up 8 rwhp and 7 rwtq. I don't recommend messing with the MAF unless you can tune for the changes.

Did I miss something or is he looking for something for an LT1? Unless he plans on making changes to the intake, why not get a system developed for an LT1? But I've had a hard time following this trhead, so maybe I'm WAY off.

I dunno but I used my K&N and then a wix paper filter and there ws no difference. Maybe the wix flows better than the other paper filters or maybe my K&N was a little dirty but no power difference here between the K&N and wix paper filter.
