Anyone have these? Can I leave the stock cats and y-pipe w/ this set-up? Thunder racing has them if you want to look into it!
Let me know!!

On an older model '99 and earlier it is like upgrading to the newer exhaust manifolds... Just prettier and smog legal.
If you are still planning on that cam listed in your sig, you are much better off with those FLP's or Mac's listed.

Go with the Long Tubes or if you want to stay smog legal just buy a pair of Hooker shorties-they are just as nice and will produce the same results as the JBAs for slightly less$. Yes, the factory Y-pipe will bolt right up to the shorties but if your going to put in that cam you will need a little better exhaust manifold/header.

dont bother with shorties. i had a long converstaion today with MTI about that today and they said shorties do next to nothing for ls1 cars. either go with the macs or flp's. in my opinion, i wouldn't waste my money on shortys. you dont get even half the performance out of them. We are talking 5-8 rwhp (shortys) versus 25-30 rwhp (flp) you decide

I have the Hooker shorties on my car and I do like them. I don't want the noise and clearance issues of LT's. Other mods and results below.
Shorties do add some off-idle torque due to the
1 5/8" primaries, but I doubt if you will see more than a 5 HP gain at peak compared to the '00-02 manifolds. I originally had the more restrictive '99 manifold/y-pipe setup.
My car is an "old man" setup with which I was going for the Z06 type performance/driveability combo in an F-body. If you're looking for all-out performance go for the longtubes.

Only advantages to shorties are:
1. smog leagal (important here in CA)
2. Direct bolt in
3. no ground clearance issues
I like mine but my HP goals have always been moderate.. with the cam im going with TR 220 the shorties should be fine plus they are good looking and hassle free
Gain was in the 6 hp range with a stock motor.. you will see a little better gain on a 98 or 99 car..
