Default So my kooks 1 7/8 LTs dont fit.... help? pics.

Sooo, after waiting over two weeks for these Kooks 1 7/8 lts and having yet MORE UPS issues I finally get them to find out that the driver side wont fit.

Things ive done.

- Jacked up that side of the motor as high as I can from undoing those 4
bolts.
- taken off oil filter and bracket
-beat the **** out of my floor pannel as you can see to find out it would hit the block before it would go in anyway.

Anyone else have any ideas as to why they wont fit or WHAT THE HELL I CAN DO TO GET THEM TO FIT?

It really sucks cause I just had the motor out, but I needed it to get back in and i had no timeframe from either the sponsor, kooks or UPS as to when they would be here. So i figured what the hell, I had lts on before, it shouldnt be that difficult since theyre already out and the car is already in the air, right?

WRONG.

I dont wanna drop the motor unless I absolutely have to.

The problem:

The header is hitting the floor board, k member and oil filter bracket (all shown in pics) at the same time. The floor is stopping the header from moving out, the k member is stopping the header from moving forward and the oil pump bracket is stopping the header from moving toward the passenger side. No matter what i do i cant get it past those points unless i get it lodged into the k member in which case it wont go up.

HELP!!

I would take the 4 15 MM bolts that hold the tranny crossmember on and shift the motor towards the passanger side. But before I did that I would notch the stock K member(ALOT) for those headers.

No need to drop the KMember. Mine were a PITA as well. However, drop the trans crossmember as mentioned above. Then remove the steering arm. Jack the engine up, it helps if you get to the point where the return line pops off the PS pump, but if its just about to, then you might be able to squeeze it in. GL.

I am swapping mine out for a set of Vic Jr race headers in less than one month. Tired of them laying on the steering arm (NoMoreLS1 posted that can be corrected by adjusting the column from under the dash, I'll see), then of course the floorboard banging also.

Its a huge pain in the ***, I had the heads off and still had to jack the motor up and beat the hell out of everything with the steering shaft and oil filter off.

pretty rediculous.
