Default Jay Fisher Pontiac coil relocation kit install done.

Well I finally got around to putting the relocation kit in the SS and it turned out pretty good. Only problem with it was the instructions that came with the kit, THEY SUCK! They are very confusing and sometimes had to read them 4 to 5 times to make sure I had everything like they worded it in the instructions. It makes mention once or twice to check thier web site to get an idea of how they mount. Well, the web site has no pictures that I could find. Very first step says to remove your winshield wipers by taking off the 13mm nut then flipping the blade up. Doing that will release the pressure on the fitting. Well, it didnt release ****! I fought and fought with the wipers for hours! The first thing I did AND THE STUPIDIST THING I DID was to grab the old trusty snap-on pry bar and try and pry the drivers side one off. After putting hardly ANY pressure on the damn thing MY WINDSHIELD SHATTERED (well ok it didnt shatter but I now have 2 12 inch cracks and 4 or 5 smaller ones from the lower right hand side that intesect at least twice and the area where the pressure was, is now a spider web)!!!!!! Copious amounts of cursing followed immediatly thereafter!

I finally realised after a couple of minutes that I would be calling the insurance company about a mystery semi that was spitting gravel all over the place on the highway and pitched some rocks on my windshield. My next idea ended up turning a 40.00 gear puller into scrap. I took my crapsman pulley puller and ground the ends off of 2 of the arms to get it to fit into the small area and then had to grind the tip off of the large screw. I finally got the thing on the wiper arm and as soon as I applyed pressure the arms would slip off. After trying duct tape, rope, zip ties and a couple other things to keep the arms on the wiper without the damn thing slipping off the puller went into the garbage can. About an hour later one of my buddy's shows up to check and see how the install went. He about crapped when he saw the windshield. So what does he do?.........Reaches over, grabs the wiper, gives it 2 solid yanks and the ****** thing came right off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! !!!!!!! Then he looks at me and says "yeah man, just give them a couple good yanks and they come right off". He did the second one with one hard yank. At that point I almost went upstairs, grabbed my .45 and ate a bullet. I spent 4+ hours trying to get these things off, broke my windshield, trashed a brand new tool, wasted time, effort and energy and he gets them off in less than 30 seconds!

After all that was done the rest of the install went VERY smooth and only took about 2 hours. Probably could have taken alot less time if I wasnt beating my head on a wall for a good portion of that time for breaking the windshield. The passenger side of the kit needs a little more work on the routing of the wires to make it a little more pleasing to the eye, but other than that the kit looks good and you can actually tell that theres a motor in the car now because you can see the valve covers.

Remeber this kiddies Glass + prybar=BAD JUJU

I feel your pain as I did somewhat the same on mine but at least they run flat on windsheild and not up the glass.Mine was a home brew system and had to make my own wires so how do the high dollar ones look?

One I looked at everything that came with the kit, its really not worth what you pay for it but it looks good and I am to lazy to make my own.

you'll be suprised how hard it is to take those wipers off. then you do it a couple times and learn how to yank em good they come off really easy. hows the insurance company believing the story about the gravel truck.

funny story though

There was a mistake in the instructions. I have the link to the picture here. I've got the same kit on my car and its great for cars without direct port kits. I wish I had another solution because I have to remove the coils just to change the jets in my kit. Definitely worth the cash though if you want to relocate them. I'd do it again even with the direct port kit because I don't have any other options

Oh man, those fricken wipers! I swear they have caused a ton of problems for me on many cars but dang, you win.

I am really sorry to hear what happened.

I can not wait to see the final results.

Good thing you didn't try the .45 trick. The way your luck was going you'd have just wounded yourself and died a long and miserable death or worse yet ended up a drooling vegatable.

Hmmm, I make my own kits for a lot under $250.

Sorry to hear about your windshield, it happens a
lot to unsuspecting folks.

I'll see if I can borrow a camera and take pics.

My 99 Camaro has them clustered under the cowl.
