that's a hell of place to have a leak. get the culprit header off and check it out and get back with us if that's the problem. i haven't heard about a header that had a leak where the pipes merge before. you may have answered this already, but waht kind of headers?

I've got a feeling that mine might leak too. My duals smacking the ground all the time can't be good for the welds.

MAC Midlength. I like their fitment better than long tubes.

I've never had an issue with them until now. I bought these used though and had them sand blasted also so anything could have happened during shipping or refinishing.

I have actually heard of many headers leaking on that spot though. It was just hard to locate without the lift. Listening from the top it sounded like it was coming from the back of the head but as soon as you get under the car, it's quite clear where the sound was coming from. The imbalanced LTFT readings just confirmed an exhaust leak in my mind. Hopefully when I pull it off, it's at a spot that can be easily found and repaired.

Yep, pulled the header, capped the collector and plugged the o2 bung. I filled it with water and it started PURING out between two pipes at the collector. I'm guessing they forgot to weld there because the water was coming out pretty bad.

EDIT> If anyone else has the infamous tick, they might want to check at the collectors!

I'm glad you found it and it was only an exhaust leak. Did it cause any SES codes?

I'm having a little trouble of my own. I got p1133 and p1153 codes one week after a full exhaust installation. These are insufficient cycling codes @ both front 02 sensors. I've learned that these could be caused by a few things, including an exhaust leak near the o2 sensors.

I think I do have a small exhaust leak. It's not making a ticking sound, it's more like a "wheep" sound that only happens under load. But I hear a very faint ticking on both sides when the car idles and I put my ear to the collector area. I wonder

I will have someone step on the gas so I can listen closely at the collectors.

I'm glad you found your fix! Sorry for rambling on....

Didn't set any codes but the fuel trims were WAY off. The leaking side the fuel trims were +4 to +8 higher than the non leaking side so now I have to get the car retuned.

I took the header to a local guy and we found the problem right away. Where they put it all together, there was NO weld on 1/4th of the collector inbetween the tubes. He's going to cut the collector off, reweld it and weld the collector back on.

I'm surprised you it didn't set off an insufficient cycling code for the affected front o2 sensor.

And once the leak is fixed won't the fuel trims correct themselves?

I reset them anyway so it's good now. Had to have the collector cut off and re-weld all the tubes. Put it back on and the tick is gone!! Still need to re-tune it though since much of the part throttle tuning was done using fuel trims and since one was WAY off, that threw everything out.
