Default Ram air set up

Hey I just installed a magnaflow catback on my 00 t/a and wanted to ask you guys what would be the best setup for me? I was thinking of getting a ram air box, because my t/a isn't ram air right now, slp air lid, then a 85mm slp MAF, a smooth bellow, and I have my 85mm bbk tb, and just got my slp ram air hood. With the 85mm tb and ram air hood, what should I get for the money I would be spending on the lid, MAF sensor, bellow, and air box? one more thing, should I take out the baffle if I do a lot of highway driving? thanks and hope to get some info!

Do not mess with the stock MAF. The lid is a great mod, while the smooth bellow is notorious for putting unwanted stress on the lid due to its rigidity. There is nothing to be gained by switching to a smooth bellow over a stocker besides looks.

I have to disagree. I went with the SLP cold air intake, lid, MAF, and bellow and love it. It took a few start-ups for the computer to get used to the new MAF, but I have had no problems with it at all, and I'm making 400rwhp with bolt-ons and a small cam. Here, this will show you some CFM numbers with and without the SLP MAF, along with a couple of other set-ups. http://www.installuniversity.com/ins...sity/index.htm Just click the "library" link, and then the "air Induction" link. Hope this helped.

So I guess we should just forget about all the people who have all the problems with them because yours actually worked?

We KNOW the 85mm MAF will flow more air. Don't really have to be an engineer to figure that out. The problem is what the PCM does with the newfound information. Too many people have come and complained about how their car stumbles, sets SES codes, etc.

Okay, sorry. Mine worked fine with NO problems at all. Don't know about everyone elses, but mine was good. That better?

Since I have a 85mm tb, i should only get the lid instead of a new MAF and bellow? I also have a hypertech programmer, would anything else be recommended with what I have already?

No one really uses Hypertech anymore. As far as intake goes, ported TB and a lid is what most use. Bellows useless and MAF should stay stock. Lots of guys use a Fast Toys Ram air kit or similar set up.

Yes....some have gained a few hp and some have actually lost hp. If the tune doesn't work, then you are stuck with what you get. If you end up doing longtubes, cam, etc. you will need something to tweak your tune with anyway. Don't waste your money$$

I like that! Much more clear...I have stayed away from MAF's just because the potential gains are small, and LOTS of people have had problems with them.

LT headers and ORY are still one of the best bang for the buck mods. They will not hurt your gas mileage much, even without a tune.

You can expect 25-30rwhp EASILY out of a full exhaust setup.

As for the hood baffles, I'm not very well versed in these, as I don't own a WS6. Lots of guys run them without, lots of guys run them with them. Some people have built custom water deflectors, while others say they aren't needed. Do a search, or go checkout their section of the board for more specific information.

intake manifold if you are pre 01, ls6 is a good place to start, or go for the fast 78 if you want some added hp, and protection of burst panels if you go fi, or no2,
the 90 is some time away untill you get bigger cubes or a serious head/cam package
