Rust question

I brought a set of SLP longtubes and they are rusty but not to rusty. Can I put them on like that or do I have to sand the rust off. What will yall do let me know because I love those headers.

I don't think the rust will harm anything. But are you aware that the SLP headers hang a little lower than most other LT's? If your car is lowered, you might regret using the SLP's.

the rust will only make them look like crap, I would clean them up, and clearcoat them, that will seal them, make sure you got a high temp clear.

I didnt know it will hang a little but my car isnt lowered. will it look bad.

I think SLP headers are stainless, but a grade that will
get a light surface rust. Fuggedaboudit, unless you're
show-car **** or something.

Yup, SLP's are stainless. Rust won't matter on them unless you just don't like it visually.

I used it on my jethot coated headers and i feel it helped protect my headers, although 3 winters woth of snow and salt have taken their toll. In my opinion it cant hurt. Just clean off the oils first with a rag and mineral spirits or rubbing alcohol.
