Default custom true dual owners

ok im about in the position to buy some long tube headers (probly those cheap stainless steal ones from ebay-xs super comps?) since there arent any decent ypipe for it yet, give me some ideas for true duals. i think im going to use summit or jeg's 3" x pipe. which mufflers did you use, over the axle or dumped, and price? also pics would be awesome. keep in mind i drive this car 10k miles a year and it will have to be somewhat friendly

basically your going to want them run out the rear of the car if you want it to be fairly tame. Id say stay away from the dynomax bullets. Also, you have to decide if your going to run them over or under the axle. Over is more expensive but gives awesome ground clearance. Under the axle is cheaper but will compromise ground clearance. Id say go with either the borla xr-1's or any of the magnaflow mufflers if you want it to be fairly tame. The summit/jegs x-pipe setup works well, just need to be able to get it to fit up. As for cost it all depends on everything listed above and whether you will be doing it yourslef or having an exhaust shop do it. If you go with dumped duals at the rear then it will be much cheaper than having them run out the back.

If you have a good exhaust guy, there isnt a need to piece together a kit. My guy built the system from scratch, cept for the mufflers obviously. I went with dynamax 18" bullets.

Check out Lane's true duals and also TSP (Texas Speed and Performance).

I have a completely custom set made locally but I used Flo-pro twisters mufflers just like Lane does. In fact, I bought them (just the mufflers) from Lane himself.

Here's a (not very good) shot of the exhaust laying in my shop during the motor swap last year. Don't know why it looks like the top of one side is crushed in. Has to be something strange in the picture, as it's not crushed or dented in real life.

I just finished installing my Pacesetters last night, and I am having a shop weld the rest of it in right now (Summit's Universal 2.5 inch X-pipe and Dynomax Bullet Race Mufflers). I'll try and get some pictures and some sound-clips up

Mine was pretty loud, but it didnt bother me. It was actually a tad quieter than when I was running an open cutout, but a much more deeper tuned sound to it.

You could prolly get it made for bout $350-400.

Yep. Watch out for the po-po.

Can't understand why, but some of them don't like it.

FIrst off, if you get bullets, don't buy the 12in ones, they will sound like a redneck truck. And make sure you do a X or H pipe. I had TD for a while, but ended up buying a LM2 because of clearance issues. Have fun

Well, I have Lane's True Duals as well, unmodified, they dump right ahead of the rear axle. They are MUCH louder than stock, but not unbearable. I daily drove mine for about 6 months with mine, and i had to turn the stereo up a bit more, but nothing unbearable. Its worst at around 40-50 for me, and fine above that. Combined with LT's they really sound terriffic! PM me and ill send you a clip. They only sacrifice about an inch of ground clearance. I have the Flo Pro Twisters and they are an amazing muffler (12inch)

I haven't heard anyone who didnt love the sound my car made!

Ive had bullets, turbo mufflers, and finally magnaflow. By far, the magnaflow 6" rounds are the best overall in terms of eliminating rasp and blatting, no drone or peaky RPMs, and great overall tone. Theyre smooth and refined at idle and low throttle yet retain great high rpm staccato. I have mine on either side of the rear wheel well. I have my X pipe and both legs go over the passenger side axle that way it tucks up where the stock exhaust goes.

Yep. I get loads of compliments on the sound of my LT4 385 stroker thru true duals wit the Flo Pro's. Since I have an iron block, it is a nice bass pitched, pounding cam lope that has intimidated many a ricer.

Recently I had it by a fabrication shop to get a seat bracket fabb'd and the owner said "Your car sounds seriously pissed off!"

I loved that remark.

I have got an over-axle true-dual with Edelbrock LT's, high flow cats and bullets. There are pics and videos in the car domain site in my sig. Everything was custom bent by my mechanic. All together it ran just under 2k.

Are you talking about the casing length or the overall length?

Must be casing length, wich comes in 12" or 18". Overall length is 17" or 23".
