Default buying used parts

I am looking for used headers. New headers for my 2002 camaro z28(5.7l auto) run around $800. I found slp headers, 3" y pipie and installation kit on ebay for under$600. What do you think?

if you get slp's you will lost almost all ground clearence. if you want badass headers look at kooks or qtp's. those are around $800. if you dont wanna spend that kinda money get some coated pacesetters and a tsp( texas speed and performance a sponsor hear) y pipe.

so NO SLP LONGTUBES OR WE WILL BAN YOU

I have the Edelbrock Vicor Series long tubes and I am more than pleased with the performance and construction of these headers... Long tubes and y-pipe ran me a little over $500 at Scoggin Dickey Parts Center (sdpc2000.com)

Stay away from the SLP headers. The ground clearance is aweful. IF cost is an issue. Get a set of pacesetters. for $300 you can get a set of coated Long Tube headers.

Actually, I need more advice. I have magnaflow exhaust. It looks like one pipe that flows into a magnaflow muffler that splits into 2 pipes. What exactly do I need? Headers, installation kit, y pipe. All of the above, none of the above, one and not the other. I'm new and clueless. What's up?!

Avoid the SLP headers for the ground clearance issues. And you'll need headers and an offroad 'Y' pipe or catted 'Y'. Do some searching on the board for makes and feed back.

pacesetter LT headers, and an off-road or catted y-pipe depending on what you want. they that will hook up to your catback you have already, the exhaust shop will take care of that. but if you said your "new and clueless" really the best advice you can get right now is just read read read and get yourself to where your NOT clueless. there is no "installation kit" needed btw...

Headers & y-pipe, O2 extentions. That's it. You can reuse the gaskets & header bolts. I would suggest new header bolts. Stage 8's are about $30-$40. If you get gaskets with the kit, DO NOT USE THEM! Only use GM header gaskets. The original gaskets are fine to reuse.

I would buy new gaskets, just make sure to get some GM metal gaskets, get O2 Extensions, thats all you need outside of the headers and y pipe, some band clamps aswell if they dont come with either headers or y pipe. I have some coated pacesetters and a hooker y pipe on mine, its a good setup, though my y pipe hangs a lil low, my headers tuck VERY nicely.

What will you need
Headers and y pipe (pretty obvious huh )
Plugs (NGK TR 55 capped at .055)
wires (if the stockers are good reuse them)
possibly bolts (you can reuse the stockers, or the ones that come with the headers)
anti sieze (apply to the header bolts prior to installation)
bosch 13111 o2 sensors (2 of these they are vette rears, and help keep the insufficient switching code away)
02 simms (or you can have these tuned out if you have access to the tuner software, either thru a friend or a shop)
Gaskets (2 new GM metal gaskets)
Clamps (you'll get the c clamp style, but band clamps are a little nicer)
10mm gear wrench (this tool is so handy it should be a mandatory purchase)
Block off plates (if you decide to eliminate the EGR/AIR systems)
Jack and stands (that raise the car at least 24" above the garage floor)
That should be about it

Sounds like good advice! I haven't had this question answered on another thread, so maybe I can get help here. For my first mods with the money I have ($2000), I am thinking:slp lid, cold air intake, vigilante 3200 stall, re gearing to 3.73, and possibly the pacesetter headers and TSP off road y pipe on the Texas speed site. Later on, cam, port and polish the heads, and port the tb. When should I get it tuned. I was looking into tuning it myself with the hypertech tuner, or should I get it done professionally with a dyno?

after the stall or after the cam either one of those is going to need a tune er should i say HAVE to have a tune, and get it professionaly done, no offense but you dont sound like you know enough to tune it and i'm not saying i do either. myself i wouldn't even bother with the CAI.
