Removing the power steering pulley...

Removing the power steering pulley... What hold the power steering pulley on? I can't see in it. Right now I'm thinking it is a torx bit, but I've tried all of them except a T-45 (couldn't find it). Anyone know what holds it on? Thanks.

Re: Removing the power steering pulley... its an alen bolt. good luck getting it off. are you pulling the power steering off? if so, you dont need to remove the pulley. look at the bracket that holds the ps pump on. there are 3 bolts that hold it to the block. they are kind of tough to get to, but much easier than pulling the pump then bracket. there is a bolt on either side of the pump, and one on top. get the 2 bolts on the sides first. then to get the top bolt, you will need to grind an open end wrench down(flater) to get it in that area. but it fits with grinding. do the top bolt lastas the pump and bracket will wander off with the bolt. hope that helps. good luck.

Yeah, I kept trying to get my hand up there to get the bolts loose, but I couldn't for the pulley. But now that I know it can be done, I'll try some more.

Re: Removing the power steering pulley... Ya gotta take off the water pump to get to the bottom left bolt <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> I tried and tried and....said screw it, so the pump came off and so did the ps bracket.

Re: Removing the power steering pulley... I got it off fine without removing the water pump.
What I ended up doing (instead of grinding on a wrench) was just back out the bolts that attach the pump to the bracket until they hit the pulley. They were short enough so that this let the pump come free. Pretty simple after I figured out how to do it, but time consuming.

I am impressed! <img border="0" alt="[worship]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" /> You are better with the patience thing than me...I just could not hang with the small space to work with. You must have moved the supply line a bit to get to the little bugger. Good Job.

Re: Removing the power steering pulley... i did this today and pulled the water pump first. i just didn't have the patience to screw around with trying to sneak that 15 ml into a cubby hole. good thought about backing the bracket off to the pulley for better access though.
