Has anybody tried taking the stock airbox lid and removing (cutting out) all of the ribs inside of it? If so, what would this be worth (hp) compared to an aftermarket lid? Trying to keep a sleeper look. Ideas?

I don't believe the vanes are the big airflow
problem, it's the "resonator" in the throat
and the fact that the outlet port opening is
far forward of the back wall, making much of
the air filter's air have to make a 90-180
degree sweep to get out.
Some people putty up the resonator holes. The
stock lid still bites.

Did it. Not worth the trouble. Just buy a plain aftermarket lid. A lid is not a big giveaway to power, everyone with a not "totally" stock car has a lid.

Thanks for the replies. I was bored and did it before I read the replies. No gain was really noticed, however the Granetelli MAF was another story.
