Default Poll Those with headers...did your oil consumption increase?

I want to see how many of you now have serious oil comsumption issues now that you have headers. I wouldnt call using less than 1/2 a quart every 3k an issue.

Thanks WILWAXU.
I kind of want to get data on the percent of people of have this problem.
I know that alot of people use more oil when getting headers but I want to know about how many.

I am thinking about headers but I am not sure I want to deal with the oil consumption issues.

I'll put it like this, my car never drank oil before the headers, I always ran Amsoil 10W-30 and changed it every 6,000 miles and it never moved down the stick! I put on the headers and the next week when I checked the oil it was down! I then started seeing blueish smoke at WOT and the car averages 1 to 1 1/2 quarts every 1,000 miles! did it help my cars performance? yes it did! it wen't from 13.04@106.67 to 12.73@109.15 with no other changes besides the headers in the same weather conditions! was it worth it? not really in my case since this is my daily driver and now I will have to fork over $5,000 or so for a good re-build! for now I just put up with it since it seems to run fine other than the WOT smoking and oil consumption. I did the catch can and it catches some oil but that was not the real problem, the problem is the rings! I just don't undrerstand why so many LS1's develop this problem after headers but yet some don't? doesn't make much sense to me.

I have noticed more posts with issues of oil consumption due to Mac headers. Is Mac the culprit or is this happening on all LT headers?

LS1Jay, did you try new valve stem seals ? I'm just about to install MACs with ory. New valve seals are going in too. I'm also removing EGR and plan to decrease part throttle timing to avoid pinging. First WOT will be after following how the tuning settles. Let's see what happens.
