Default Cross Member Support Bolts

I had to remove my crossmember when I installed a Random Tech y-pipe. I want to reinstall it using washers to allow it to clear the y-pipe. I can't find the original bolts, so what size bolts do I need? Thanks.

By "crossmember" do you mean the tunnel brace?

Why would you leave it off? Wouldnt that make the car unstable.

If you've ever seen the peice in question, you'll understand that it serves very little function. I took mine off when I put on my FLP's a little over a year ago. My car drives like it's on rails.

True the tunnel brace may not be the strongest piece on the car but it does serve a function, I think it's worth replacing with the SLP drivshaft loop. The SLP loop serves as a tunnel brace and a drivshaft loop, for the money you can't beat it.

I've said this before, if G.M. could eliminate just one washer on a car they would. That stock tunnel brace is a lot washers, so why didn't G.M. eliminate it? Just my 2 cents worth.

I agree, I want to reinstall it, or maybe I should go aftermarket. After I removed it, I noticed a different "feel" to my car, but I can't explain it, but it definitely wasn't an improvement. I'm not too thrilled about having to use a bunch of washers, though, so do the aftermarket parts have enough clearance (without having to use washers)? With a RT y-pipe, the stock brace doesn't even come close to fitting.

When I installed a friends SLP driveshaft loop I still needed to use some washers, that same day I installed his SLP y-pipe and bolt-on sfc. It's no big deal to use washers, you can't see them and you can ( I did ) paint them black if you want. I highly recommend the SLP loop, good luck with your choice.

Thanks for your help.

I might as well bolt-on a quality piece while I'm at it. Good info about using washers, too.
