Default ORP to True dual question. Is it worth the $$?

Just curious if it would be worth going to a true dual setup...
as of now I have macs, ORP, and a flowmaster with cutout...

I've heard of people gaining up to 10rwhp with a good dual setup....but at a cost of $500, I don't want to just rush out and get one...

all input is appreciated

thanks in advance

Alex

i would do it if there was someone around me that could get it done i called a shop one day and they told me it wasnt worth it but everyone on this board seems to think it is. i dont know how much performance you would gain over a well setup catback system but they do sound mean as hell

I went from complete stock exhaust... to hooker lts and true duals.. I can tell a world of difference. I haven't been to the track with my new setup.. so.. don't really know how much it helps. There is somebody close.. that can do the duals for you... email me if you have any questions..

Peak horsepower isn't what wins races its area under the curve and that is just what a true dual system will improve a ton along with peak horsepower. I followed one post about duals that Oilman was active on and he spoke of a full boltons car switching to true duals from his 4" mufflex catback and gaining up to 35rwhp in the midrange area. That is what has convinced me to go this route and I also have a cam.

first of all, the true dual exhaust system does not have to cost you 500 dollars. only if your one of those guys who has to have the most expensive stuff even if its not worth it. anyway, i just bought my true dual exhaust system from justin sutton with all the pipe and x-pipe for $215, without the two bullet mufflers you can get off of summit for about $36 a piece. so that rounds off to be about $300 minus installation. which shouldn't be too much. by the way, it sounds bad ***. best of luck to ya man.

I installed my LT's and had a local muffler shop fab a custom x pipe and dump right before the axle. The fabbed x pipe cost $200 installed. I provided the bullets which were $80. from the LT's back cost $280 out the door. A pretty good deal imho. Not to mention one of the MTI techs complimented me on the job stating that he'd seen several butchered jobs and that mine was really clean for a completely custom fabbed job. And it was the first one this guy had ever done. I brought him a picture and he built it. The only thing he couldn't do was mandrel bends. But come on, a coupla wrinkles can't cause that much pressure.

I just had a true dual set up installed last weekend. I have hooker LT's and I had the muffler shop make a x-pipe that goes throught bullets and then over the axle and out the rear. I even had them clamp the x-pipe to the hookers and had them put a flange before the bullets so if I need to remove the trans I can just unbolt the exhaust and take it out. I brought pictures from other exhaust and asked the shop to build it. I got all of this done including the bullets for $320.00. I love the way it sounds and so far have had no problems with rattles.

Just wondering if most of you went with 3" or 2.5" and if the pipe is mandrel bent?

I grabbed a setup for $425 which was a set of MACs with 3" collectors welded on. Had a full 3" exhaust with flowmasters and an H pipe in it. Very nice piece of work...dumps before the axle. I would go with the 2.5 if you have clearance issues.
