Default Who has y-pipe/muffler/dump. come inside please with some ideas

Ok puttin in the pacesetters and ory soon, i have a stock catback with a cut out. Stock catback is too quiet for my taste, lt's and a cut out is way to damn loud.

heres what i was thinking, since im way to cheap to buy a nice catback. Is anybody hanging a nice muffler off of the y-pipe and having the single dump at the axle?

I dont want it to be deafening (or i would just keep my cutout) so a strait through race-type muffler isnt really what I want. some sort of chambered deal with a nice tone is what i want.

give me some ideas guys

Ive got longtubes into a hooker ORY with a flowmaster merge welded up to the end of it with a 4" out, directly into a 4" dynomax bullet, with a cutout behind that. It sounds and flows damn near duals. For something quieter you could go with a magnaflow bullet muffler in a 3.5" or 4" in, or go with a borla xr1 in a larger size like I mentioned, but they're pretty expensive ($140+)

I was just talking to crabhart and he suggested the hooker aero chambered muffler

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

it seems like a great price and seems like it will have a nice tone, im trying to keep costs down and i think this muffler dumped at the axle would be an inexpensive and nice exhaust

That would be nice, but you might have trouble fitting the bitch.

Ground and body clearance. Are you plannong on putting it on before the rear end and then dumping it? You might be able to put it in place of the stock muffler, then just put a dump over toward the driver side.

Yeah thats a possibility,

I was planning on dumping it before the axle, i was just gona take a hammer and beat the **** out of the floor board where the right rear seat is (i dont have seats back there any way) so i can tuck the muffler up there.

I was thinking about doing that, but I think I'm going to do an over the axle deal with the muffler in the same place as stock, and just dump it on the driver side.

Yeah i went and looked under my car and that seems like a good idea. I really like the look from the back with no muffler, But i think i could tuck the hooker aero up there and dump it down and you would see it much (its less than 5 inches thick and its black), i just really wanna dump it at the axle.

What about the sound of a Pacesetter LTs, catted Y from Texas Speed, and then some muffler-solution dumped before the rear?

I always run my Cutout open, my Magnaflow is to tame for me.

It sure will be a cheap solution

buddy has a 3" ory merged into a 4" collector w/ a 4" mid pipe and a flowmaster 40 series where the pass rear seat would be. he pounded the floorboard in with a big *** hammer and it tucks up just fine. and sounds absolutely amazing. prob the best sound ive heard from an fbod. id do it myself but im not pounding on my floor and i like the corsa tips too much.
