Here is some pics of mine. TSP true duals with dynomax mufflers. I need to take it to exhaust shop and have them cut the hangers to tuck it up closer.

The stains on the ground are from when I blew the pinion seal out.

I will get sound clips soon!

To the op, could you add a paragraph about running true duals with no x or h pipe? I've considered not having a connection pipe, and just having the pipes separate all the way out the back.

From what I know, and anyone can correct me if I'm wrong, I believe having some form of crossover (x or h pipe) balances pressure to your banks and promotes scavenging, which will in turn increase effeciency and horsepower.

i'm thinking about getting a TD system. a fellow local member has a system for sale.

speed inc x pipe with 4x9 magnaflow mufflers with turndowns.....i'm wondering if it will fit my car. i would have to get some flanges welded in order to bolt it up to the headers. also, i have the slp bolt on sfc's, so would they be in the way ?? how can i mount a hanger for the rear of the exhaust ??

i could also purchase an x pipe and mock up my own.....flowtech has an x pipe avail, and i could go with flowmaster single chamber mufflers....

i briefly went through this thread....what do you guys think, suggestions / opinions are all welcome,

thanks !!

for my 98 firebird v6.. i'm gonna do a custom exhaust.. 2 pipes ran to the back to 2 Flowmaster 40s..then have them come out the sides with undecided tips.

not sure if i'll cut thru the side skirts or run the tips underneith the skirts

gotta get a job first though.

I've heard that the Speed Inc. setup is pretty good. I've never seen it so I dont know how the hangers are, but it shouldnt be a problem if they dont come with any. And I think any kind of SFC will allow for TD's as long as they arent those triangular ones.

The H pipe is pretty much none functional in that configuration ... it needs to be much shorter to work properly .... you could have just left it out and saved some pipe

Custom setup. I use to have Flowmaster 1 chambers dumped, but I opted to go with the Magnaflows out under the bumper (I just love the way they sound ). I have the single chambers for sale actually.....The old setup...Name: DSCF0984.jpg

Thank you! Unfortunately I don't have any sound clips because I blew a hole in the side of my block last weekend...Still have to pull the motor out and see what went wrong.

It sounds very close to this though...

Yea, I know lol! I originally had 1 Chambers dumped, and I left pics with the guy doing the exhaust, but he still put in a 2 1/2 ft h-pipe!!! I was pissed, and the guy refused to change it or refund my money, so I am now verbally ruining his reputation and sending would be customers to the guy who did the back half of my exhaust. The second guy did a very nice job, and I will be going back to him in the spring to have the front hald re-done with an x-pipe.

BTW, the guy who did the back half used to work for Doug Thorley headers in the 70's and 80's, so that was comforting.

Oh, and the tubing is 3" all the way back, with 5" tips

x and h pipe question! I was going to get LT headers and have my muffler guy make me 2.5 true duals, He did a set on my brothers grand prix before and they were clean, he did not use an x or an h pipe. Do i really need one? like will i loose alot of horsepower? and will it sound shitty if i dont have one? thanks

I wasn't going to post these pics because I have a ton of oil all over the undercarriage due to my supercharger create an excessive amount of crankcase pressure, and there is a ton of mudd under it from the dirt roads I live on. Oh, and I also have not finished painting the undercarriage flat black.

The pics aren't the greatest since my friends don't know how to take use a camera.

Well anyway, these are my TD's. I made them from "304" polished stainless steel. Every piece has been fabricated, even the X-pipe. All tubing is 16 gauge mandrel bent. I am by no means a welder, so try to over look them.

I have more ground clearance than any cat-back on the market and no parts of the floor have been modified except for a small dimple for the passenger pipe under the pass. seat.

Coming soon will be better focused pics and some shots of the ground clearance on my lowered car. Let me know what you all think.

Yes, the exhaust is close to the drivershaft and rear, but never should these two components ever get this close unless you are launching the car off of a bridge. Even so, there is a fingers width clearance throughout it, which is more than adequite.

I built this about a couple of months ago and now it is time to get rid of the 2.5" and go to 3" since I am very close to 600 hp.

I swapped out the single chambers and replaced them with some Magnaflows. I painted them black so they would blend into the car. Im not really one for tips, especially chrome.

yeah Jason up at APE did it. Not sure what you mean by cross overs? are you talking about an X pipe or over each side of the axle?
