I just got TDs over the axle 2.5" with Dynomax Bullet mufflers this weekend. I'm very satisfied with the quality of the of the piping and the sound. I'll get some pics as soon as I can get it back up on a lift.

I noticed that most of you didnt put back the cheesy stock bracket that spans the tunnel under the front of the driveshaft...
Do we not need that sucker?

Ehh I'm sure the engineers at GM had something in mind for it but technically I haven't seen any reason for it after I put in SFCs. It's kinda too flimsy to do anything really....

If I had to guess... I think it is just there to catch the front of the driveshaft in the event of a failure. So I figure now my X will have to take one for the team if my driveshaft gives out.

Okay i have a few questions for the guys running UNDER the rear axle. I am getting it done by a shop in a couple days my questions are....

-what kind of clearance do i need between the rear end/ rear sway bar and the exhaust to allow for suspension movement. he told me he just uses his finger, but i'm not sure if that would be enough or not.

-would lowering the car help with clearance under the axle enough to mess with, or would i still loose clearance on the rest of the system and not really accomplish anything. i'm on stock suspension, i would just do the hose mod.

thanks

lowering the car will HURT ground clearance. You just have to learn to live with it, and learn how to drive a car w/ such reduced ground clearance.

the times you will notice a problem with running it under the axle will be when you lift the car or if you drove over something raised that didnt pass under your rear wheels but passed under the car, also if the suspension would come unloaded for any reason. if you plan on lowering the car then i would do that before you have exhaust done. if you do the exhaust first then when you lower the car you risk the exhaust being really close to the ground at the rear wheels and you will want to redo it. lowering the car wll hurt clearance in genreal but will not affect clearance under the rear axle unless lowered after the exhaust was done, if that makes since.

its not really all that big of deal. if you decide to lower it just have them redo the exhaust. they will only have to do the portion under the real axle which shouldn't cost to much. throw up some pics when your done.

Basically, non-standard installations require substantial reorganization before normalization.
