SLP lid owners, heads up.
Firehawk cars got the same OE lower base & the same OE GM airlid.
The mid-late 2002 Firehawks & some of the 345hp-SS cars got the SLP/Donaldson Blackwing airlid.
Again, unrelated to the aftermarket SLP airlid problem.
YES ! ! ! i just bought the car and the SLP lid 1 rubs the hood and 2 lets the passenger side clamp just fall off!
i noticed that the smooth bellow hose has pre cut notches for the maf and tb so i spun it around for them to work and get the lid back another 1/8th inch or so.
i have drivin the car a week and havent noticed any more fiberglass rubbed off onto the intake, while the clamp does initially work after a drive it still is off.
oh and the tabs in back are all tore up from every owner tryin to push the lid back and down! also warping the foam seal
If it's not there, some people will trim the boot a slight bit to make it fit.
Once you get the front section sitting where it needs to be, the clamps will stay snapped closed.
Wow, what an old thread, ...

Do the check on the tabs in the front mounting areas. The airlid needs to be INSIDE/BEHIND the center section of the base.

99-02 Firehawk cars received the same OE lower box & airlid as the standard Trans Am & Formula cars.
Yes, the WS6 cars received the raised/larger opening lower base/support.
But again, I don't think it's really related to the OP problem, or the problem for the dude who popped this older thread back up top.
I don't know if there's any documented proof that the SLP airlid problem is related to the raised base, or the standard T/A or Formula base either.
What they are referring to is the rubbing on the underside(OP), & the clamps not staying clamped(RecentPost).
Which I think it's related to position/placement of the airlid, & not necesarily the type of lower base.
