4" single exhaust

4" single exhaust I'm getting ready to do a single 4" exhaust that is dumped at the axle to maintain ground clearance. The car isn't a DD and I can handle alot of noise but I was wondering if anyone has any experience with these mufflers. I'm looking for the quietest I can get out of these with uncompromised flow and fit under the car without hitting the TA, floor, or driveshaft. Cops around here suck.

You're going to have trouble fitting anything besides a "bullet style" muffler in there. I'm going with a 3" to 4" y-pipe, 4" bullet, then an electric cutout (in the 4"), then reduce to 3" and go into an SLP dual/dual. It should have the same flow as a 4" dump considering the placement of the cutout and the fact that there will be 2 3" paths for it to take.
I'll have stockishly quiet with nice sound with the cutout closed, then rediculously loud and mean with the cutout open.

All of the mufflers I listed were a max of 5" thick some were 4.5". I was thinking if i did a bit of clearancing on the right rear seat hump I could fit one and it will probably clear, at least better than a x pipe setup. Most of those mufflers were pretty small. Just kinda wondering what would be my best bet for db reduction without hurting flow much at all.
A 5" muffler will fit easily even on a lowered car. Thats what I have.
I have done two systems identical to mine.
Using a Flowmaster merge with dual 3" in and single 4" out I made a 3" y pipe then run a 4" bullet behind the y and have it turned down at the axle.
The y pipe is long enough to where you dont need any additional pipe behind it.
My bullet is attached directlt to the end of the merge and I have a Flowmaster turndown on the end of the bullet.
Its plenty loud and sounds identical to duals with bullets. I have built plenty of systems with duals and you could cant tell them apart.

Thats kinda what I was looking at, the sound and performance with less weight and more ground clearance. I was kinda looking for a little less noise than a bullet though. I'm kinda curious about the first muffler a dynotech split flow race muffler.

The magnaflow will be the quietest out of what you listed.
You may look into this one if you can figure out a way to squeeze it in there...maybe at a diagonal angle tucked up in the tunnel?

If cops suck, then you have a problem, bucause you cant fit **** before the axles except for a bullet. And a bullet on a 4 inch exhaust will be loud and raspy. And what are your goals with the car, unless you are running big cubes, a 4 incher will probably take away some low end tq. I would do a 3 inch true dual setup and do sweet thunders or powersticks on it.
I just did a flowmaster collector/4" dynomax bullet and turndown. Its pretty freakin loud but there is zero rasp and its pretty deep sounding. No way I would do it on a DD with any kind bullet. I was thinking of trying the split flow, I think it will fit. I did it just to keep the 'muffler' rule guys for street car heads up races happy mainly but it may as well just be open headers as far as loudeness.

A single 4" is gonna flow about like a dual 3", be lighter and easier to tuck up in the chassis. I'm probabaly gonna go for the magnaflow or the dynatech, I'm kinda leaning to those because they are both straight thru and have about as big a casing I will be able to fit wich will help with db reduction.

Thats exactly what I was planning just with a quieter muffler. Did you notice any change of performance from your old setup, whatever it was?
I was using a hooker catback and I would just take the muffler of at the track so it was like a cutout. Hard to tell if it really helped or not but 700rwhp through a single 3" pipe probably wasnt the best, now I just swapped cams so I cant say for sure but the kooks y-pipe had a crappy merge and I cant imagine this hurting anything except my hearing 
This doesnt weigh much at all and its easy to remove, worked out well for me.
I was able to cut up the hooker intermediate/over axle pipe and use the bends to the flowmaster merge. Its like they were made to be donated
