Default high idle/SES light after ported TB

is this just the computer re-learning or not?

Drove a couple minutes the 1st day, no problems. Fired it up and reved a bit the 2nd day, no problems. 3rd day, wants to idle around 1100-1300RPMs. If I sit long enough (maybe 10-15 seconds) the idle will drop down to around 600-750RPMs. Once I get moving down the road, I can take my foot off the gas and coast at about 30MPH forever.

What do you guys think: computer re-learning, got a vaccum leak, needs a tune?

and no, i don't know what the code is yet, just popped on tonight

sounds like your throttle cable or idle sensor needs some attention

ok, now that you bring that up, the TB is off a 98-99 which have a different opening cam, so i had a lot of extra slack, i used the adjustment sleeve to the max, the valve will go closed, but its just a hair short of full open

is your throttle body's plate have an idle hole that's been drilled out? when i picked up a ported tb, the person who had it drilled it out and this is exactly what happened to me. Just a waste of gas. Otherwise like the others said, check the cable, and compare the idle hole to that of your old tb, if you still have it.

so it hasnt been tuned? my car is tuned to idle at like 1200 or so, and then as the car warms up the idle drops. it takes a minute or two at the most for the idle to drop to normal though

Idle screw is too far out or the hole has been drilled. Play with the idle screw, resetting the TPS sensor everytime.

You need to swap to the correct TB shaft.

Do you still have the stock TB? You can swap out the shafts pretty easily.

yea i still have the stocker, even tried switching shafts, no luck. talked to a few guys and one told me that if the guy wasn't carefull, you could port the TB oval shaped which would cause a problem, i was so annoyed with it, i just got done putting all the stock parts back on the stock TB and putting that back on

i also noticed on the ported TB that theres 2 spots were the dremel went over the valve blade seat

If it was ported on the blade seat, that's the problem. Depending on how big the hole is at least. Best bet is to port the stocker yourself and be careful. You might be able to get someone to tig it up and then get it right again.

the guy i was talking too, ported his own using a CNC machine, never had a problem with it. so im debateing now, what to do with the one i have (probably gonna sell on ebay, most likly going to end up in the shed with all my other old parts), and do i port the stock one or just buy an aftermarket one. i'm not planning on going to a 90/90 anytime soon, just an LS6 manifold for now

make sure all sensors are hooked up, and make sure that the blade is sitting perfectly in place, which seems to a problem for most people...also make sure you didnt sand or grind down the area where the blade rests, because that could lead to idle problems...........
