eliminating Y pipe banging
a quick thing (20 minutes) to try is to stick a pry bar between the floor of the car and the exhaust while prying the exhaust away nice and hard...toss one of those fat rubber exhaust hangers they sell at any auto parts store in between the y pipe and the worst point of clearance - make sure it's in there nice and tight. do this on each side of the y pipe then loosen all the clamps...do a more prying with the clamps loose then put the clamps back on with the rubber hangers still in place...it might help - i did that on a friend's car and the difference was night and day

Why go for a custom Y, it will be expensive and pointless if you already have one
Also you don't want any smaller than a 3" Y pipe.
The TSP one is adjustable and should fit pretty well with a bit of persitance.
The only reason it will bang is due to the engine torqueing, this is where it moves/rotates under load.
To fix it get:
-Poly motor mounts
-Poly tranny mounts
-Mufflex Y pipe hanger
All available from Thunder Racing and all pretty cheap. The poly mounts (ALL of them) are a great idea and should be considered by any enthusiast regardless of exhaust setup.
There should be no need to hammer the ***** out of the exhaust of the floor pan to make it fit correctly as many others run similar setups with no banging issues.
