Default No Cats and Corsa=Rasp???

I'm about to get some headers and a new y-pipe for my car. I read up on it quite a bit and have just about decided to go with pacesetters for their cheapness. Well today I decided to see if I could find out anything about how they will sound with a corsa catback. It is looking like it will sound raspy without some high flow cats. I had planned on getting an ORY. Should I be looking at some cats too?

most cat backs with an ORY will have some rasp to it... if you dont want cats, you can always put a bullet muffler in the I pipe

I think I would like to stick to the pacesetters. Anyone have any recommendations for a cheap way to get rid of the rasp? Would a bullet be cheaper than cats? How much different will the sound quality be between cats and a bullet?

pacesetters are good headers for the money, yes a bullet would be cheaper than cat and flow better... but i dont have any personal experence with a corsa cat back with a bullet in it... maybe someone else can chime in

Another question:
What does everyone think of the TSP y-pipe with cats?

I'd really like to hear from someone who has the same setup I do and see if they used cats or a bullet. Is there a certain brand of bullet you would use?

My setup is prety raspy. I like it though. Not too much drone on the freeway, and quiet in low RPM's but really screams at WOT.

If your running an ory I would go with gmmg exhaust other than that corsa, corsa is real expensive in my opinion, you won't get that rasptynest.

I have pacesetter LT, tsp catted y, and corsa. No rasp, quiet when you want it to be, loud when you put your foot into it. Its different than most other cat back sounds, more exotic sounding...

GMMG + ORY = crazy amounts of rasp. like LT's + loudmouth style rasp. you need cats with a GMMG. i assume corsa would be the same.

I used to run Corsa w LTs @ ORY. It was pretty raspy from 2200-2800rpms, very raw and loud at WOT. Sounded mean at part throttle though. I added a QTP Catted Y and it solved all the above problems and really cleaned up the sound. It still roared like a beast at WOT. My muffler fell apart soon after and I replaced it. Corsa sounds different than any other LS1 catback but IMO the quality is not there for the price you pay.

I already have the corsa on my car. I put it on a month or two before my motor blew up about 3 years ago. I'm going to keep the catback and I'm definitely getting headers and a y-pipe. I was just wondering how bad the rasp would be and how I might be able to get rid of it. I'm also going to have a 238/242 cam with a stall (not sure what size yet). It's sounding like I'm going to need some cats though. No more votes for a bullet in the I-pipe?

I had Edelbrock LT's, ORY, and a TSP Rumbler. WAY too loud for me, WAY too raspy for me. I ordered a 344SC XL series muffler and catback from Spintech, and Had the Dynomax Bullet fabbed into the I-pipe. One of the best sounding exhausts I've heard on an LS1, very big block, only rasp I get is between shifts (M6) at 1/2 throttle, and it isn't near as bad as the previous setup.

Well I listened to some sound clips on ls1sounds.com again and I have decided to just get the Pacesetters with the ORY. I figure that if I dont like it then it will be pretty easy to weld in a bullet or get some high flow cats. I appreciate everyone's help and I'll make a new thread when I get it all together and let everyone know what I think of the setup. Thanks again.
