Random cats flow the highest. Magnaflow is a close second at a much lower price. I would pick between those two since most others flow like poo.

The new MagnaFlow "Metallic-cat" pieces are flowing 590+CFM on a 3" in/out format.

From Random Tech's website: http://www.randomtechnology.com/

"In fact, Random Technology catalytic converters actually have a higher flow capacity than many mufflers. As an example, a 3" diameter 9000 series SuperStainless converter flows 502 cfm. Most 3" diameter high performance mufflers flow less than 475 cfm at the same test pressure."

It looks liek the MagnaFlow pieces are flowing 90 or CFM more.

How metallic are the metallic ones? Do they still break up very easily? My car is lowered so as much as I would like to run cats, they only last a few months before I bottom out on a speed bump or something and break them.

The Magnaflow cats aren't a ceramic brick like inside the stock cat is, it's a metallic core - kind of like a rolled wire mesh. Here's a pic of the Magnaflow cat :

Holy crap that dynatech is tiny! Maybe I'll get me a couple of those some day.

Just to clarify... Magnaflow makes a metallic type and a ceramic type.

My bad, I was referring to the new high flow ones being metallic core. Thanks.

Magnaflow also makes CarSound cats which I believe are the ceramic core type. I used to have the 3" CarSound cats on my old Mac Y-pipe and they flowed great too.

The magnaflow's are not smaller. Did you see the pic I posted of my dynatech's? They are only 4" in diameter and an essential overall length of about 4-5" because you can cut the inlet and outlet pipes off like I had done.

Are they stamped with a code or something that proves they are legal? I see it being hard to convince the inspection station those are cats.
