air breather for a lid?

So could I put a filter on the end of my air hose and have everything work fine. Cause i dont like the look of the hose attached to the lid.

since this may help the original psoter of the thread. if you dont want that ugly hose going to the air lid and you have a pre 2000 car can you buy a lid for a 00-02 model and jsut cut the hose and cap it off where its out of sight?

yea i need to delete my air one day, just dont want another reason to fail inspection. does anyone no for sure if it would work just by putting a small filter on it.
