Default LT Install HELP Hookers wont clear!!! Tips?

Trying to install a set of hooker super comps for the second week in a row and these suckers don't wanna clear jack ****. Passenger dosen't have a chance in hell and drivers side keeps hanging up on the two bolts above the oil filter. Do I need to dent them to get them to fit? The bottom of the tire is at my knee so I think I have enough clearence. I already pulled the steering linkage, coil packs, plugs and wires? Any help would be appreciated!!!

he buddy i just did mine yesterday. i had the same problem
1st get the car high as hell i mean high!
2nd on the driver side we had to take out the steering knuckle 2 bolts one on top one on bottom
3rd we removed oil filter and the breather tube about it with the 2 10mm bolts holding it in.

as far as the passenger it slid right in for use. also try removing the spark plugs that may help ya out as well.

good luck

It looks like you need to jack the car up some more. When i was putting mine in we had the car high in the air. Almost fell over from jacking and switching bricks under jack stands. The passanger side went in easy and i could not get drivers side in at all. My friend came over and he angled the header straight up and down and started it angled from the front then twisted toward the back and they slid right in. hope this helps. good luck

I hate to point out the obvious but you are going from the bottom, right? And you verified you have the right headers?

Yea from the bottom and these have all the emmissions hook ups for my year Z28 and the seller was legit.

What are you using to get the car so high? The kmember is at such an angle that the jack slides along the kmember some times while trying to get it higher, makes it seem like the cars gonna fall right off

When i did mine i jacked up from the side of car under doors and put jack and jack stands on bricks. The reason we did this was so the car would sit higher with the stands on the side, plus it gave me more room to manuever under the car with the headers. hope this helps, keep trying you can do it (if you want a little inspiration read my thread called "header install nightmare")

i helped put in lightemupls1's hookers and they were a pain the car has to be high enough so that you can stand the header up vertical and it should go straight in the steering knuckle will have to be removed and the the oil filter along with breather top

I put pacesetter ceramic lt in and I had to beat in the drivers side floor panel so it would clear. The passenger side slid right in. I had the plugs in on both sides.

Passengers side is in. I ruined 3 out of 4 NGKs Ithought would fit while attempting to jam it in. The cars front bumper is at eye level( I'm 6 ft) and the damn rear bolt wants to crossthread along with the third from the rear bolt. ANY solutions for this?

As far as drivers side linkage is out as well as the lame heat shied. The headers have a unique twist that prevents them form clearing the oil breather above the oil filter, I think I'll go ahead and pull it out tommorow after class

Have you cut the driver side tab on the block yet? That might be hitting. Theirs a good chance YOU might have to notch the k-member on the side, because the header will probably hit it. Beat the floor board right there a tad bit. It'll be fine, it doesn't mess with the pedals.

unbolt the blockoff above the oil filter, remove the steering knuckle, and if it doesn't go in then, you're an idiot.

It was a bitch to get them in, but when you do it one time, it gets very easy.

Problem now is that the bolts want to go into the block crossthreaded, anyway to clean the threads or should I force the bolt through?

Clean the threads and the bolt w/ PB blaster. Use the wire brush to make sure the bolts are CLEAN.

You can pick it up at Autozone, probably the other parts stores too.
