Default Anybody running open headers?

Search wasn't working. Wondering if anybody was running open headers and what it was like. Smell, noise, performance. I've got kooks LT's, catted-y, gmmg exhaust. Love it, but I've been told the cats are putting too much backpressure to my cam and I would see big gains if I took them out. Well, I don't really want to spend another $300 for a non-catted y so I figure I'll just take it all out and run open headers. What do ya'll think?

Thanks

If you run open headers you will burn out your O2 sensors. You need to put an 18in extension on the end of the headers to keep fresh air from getting. I just put a cutout in the I pipe. The smell without cats is strong gassy smell and the volume is loud.....but then again, that the point

i'm running headers y pipe and electric cutout.

its loud, and smells, but not too bad, with the cam, your car will smell worse.

couple friends of mine are running open cutout and cam and their cars smell pretty bad.
but there's nothing like free flowing exhaust,

If the car is tuned well it really won't smell all that much. You will deffinatly want to put 16-18" extensions on the collectors. You'll have to flaten the drivers side alittle if your using just straight pipe for the extension.

As far as noise, it's loud, real loud. It will also sound like **** at part throttle and the car won't feel that great down low. I've driven back and forth to the track numerous times with open headers (about 120 miles). It's not bad but, unless your car is just a cruise night car, I wouldn't run open headers all the time.

open headers are too loud to run more then a half hour a day, any longer (well atleast with me it) gave me headaches with my 84. it the revs alot faster though and it was music to my ears if it was only short drives. even at 2k cruise it was hard to hear my 1000w amplified 6X9's and 12 inch sub. at wot i couldnt make anything out or know what song was playing.

Im running open headers at the moment, with 18" bullet mufflers attached to save my o2's...no the mufflers are doing nothing since they are so close to the header.

Loud... loud... loud.. obnoxious.. loud.. obnoxious. It's awesome for the drag strip... shitty for the street rediculously bad resonance and vibration.

On the plus side though.. it scares the crap out of prospective competition and I've already sent some mustangs in my area off with a loss and hearing loss

I drove my car with open headers for a day, and everyone was looking at me, and its soooo loud, the interior rattles alot more, alot of vibrations, it smells in the car, I don't recommend it, its quite embarassing as a matter of fact, don't do it.

sell the catted y and the gmmg since it will sound like **** without cats and with the money you made you could easily buy an ory and choice of catback imo hooker and slp dual dual catbacks are the only ones id ever run with an ory
