Question Do I need a FAST 90?

I've decided on the cam, now I'm starting to gather all the parts. The cam is a 224/228 .637/.639 110LSA. Not too sure about the heads yet, but I will probably be going with a set of TSP's PRC LS6 ones or waiting till I have enough for a set of AFR's. Should I be looking for a 90/90 setup or will an LS6 suffice? How much power will I be leaving on the table if I went with the LS6? If I should go with the FAST, should I have it ported? Thanks for the opinions and suggestions.
-Marc

you will be making around 10~15rwhp with the fast over the LS6

if you port the fast, possibly add up to 10rwhp on top of that

(porting will cause you to lose a lot more low end torque and make the the high end insane)

So.... LS6-about $450. FAST-about $875 = $425 difference. Plus another $250 to port = $650 difference for 20-25 rwhp. Hmmm....

my personal views are that the LS6 is fine. yeah you will loose some hp but the 90/90 is expensive and ive seen some issues with the FASTs

also if you have $1200 to spend on a throttle body and intake.. why not spend around $1600 on a sheet metal intake and throttle body that has more gains?

I'm leaning towards doing the ported FAST. What's with the sheetmetal intakes?

Get the Fast, and save your money for the AFR's.

You figure 25rwhp over the LS6 intake and for me still with the LS1 intake that would mean 40rwhp.........sounds good.

Sheet metal intakes will handle more boost but will heat up for than the FAST. FASt manifolds have been known to blow at 18-20 psi

But I'm not interested in FI or even N2O, for that matter. So... a sheetmetal intake isn't really needed for my application.

Wow, 40hp from a manifold. The FAST should be all you need, just make sure you get the 90/90 setup. Love to see how you calculate what the heads will do. Lol just messing with you, but seriously, save up and get AFR's, don't waste your money on anything less.

thats a lot of lift

if youve got 1200 burnin a hole in your pocket, grab the 90/90 set up, if youve got to wait 6months..wouldnt worry about it

For some people that can be more power depending on CID. On a stock bottom end 346 I would expect close to 20rwhp all together. You are practically getting the power of 5 bolt-ons for the price of borla exhaust.
