Default Help me spend 500 bucks QUICK!!!

Okay... Here's what I've got so far

99 Z28 A4
SLP Loudmouth catback
SLP Lid/Filter combo
FTRA

I have about 3 weeks until cruisin week down at OC, MD, and I'm trying to stay on a budget to add some extra horses.

I just purchased Diablosport Predator tuner... I know people love the EFI/HPtuners, but this seemed like a quick and inexpensive alternative until I start w/ serious mods (I picked it up for 100 shipped + 100 to have it reset= 200 not too bad for a handheld... )

Thinking about the following...

I thought a ported stock TB would be a good next mod (where do you guys recommend... I searched the sticky, but I couldn't find specific websites or info. for the places mentioned)

Or maybe should I save my money, lose the Loudmouth, and get pacesetter LT's, Y-pipe and a Hooker catback? (850 total from texas speed I believe). Other then the typical free mods... What could I do that would be able to be done in less then 3 weeks that doesn't brake my bank?

Also... are all throttle bodies 98-02 interchangable? Is ported stock worth it compared to buying a new TB?

Thanks for all your help!!!

i say port your own tb, not hard at all. if youre going to spen 850 on exhaust i would just keep what you have now and get a nice converter, that would really help. wont add any hp but will shave off about .5 off your time.

If it was actually my car i would 1) port my tb 2)choose between converter or the exhaust route. If i went with the converter i would get about 3600-3800. If i went with the exhaust i would do this: Swap out the loudmouth resonator and make it either magnamouth or borlamouth or something like that, get some ebay headers and the go with the tsp y pipe. This would be cheaper and personally i would rather have the stainless catback and headers. And if you wanted much quieter just swap out the loudmouth for the magnaflow catback which is also stainless and sounds great imo. Good luck with the decision.

BTW: were you at OC at the beginning of the summer for the car show?

Unfortunately, I didn't make the spring show this year... After going every time for five years, I missed once, and I heard it was the best show, best weather, etc. yet... Really pissed me off!!!

Any links to porting my own TB? I'll poke around and see what I can find!

Which is quieter, borlamouth or dynamouth?

yes port your stocker there or like said send it off to new era perf. or thunder racing and probably a few other sponsors

then with remaining either go LS6 intake or Lt's (within budget) and with a few extra buck have either an ORY or custom Y-Pipe

A friend with a '98 M6 car (lid/catback only) dropped a full tenth from his previous consistent time from a ported stock TB......on the day it was installed, before & after runs were done just a few hours apart, and he was consistently .1 faster from there on out. Every car will react differently; just like anything else, the more you do mod, the more the existing mods help.

Every little bit helps, go for it!

Thanks for the help so far guys...

FBody central has an almost brand new ls6 intake installed for 425... Thought that sounded pretty good... I just gotta get the throttle body ported!

f*** all that. go for headers and ory. they add good power and sound badass and they are way more fun than a converter. tsp has pacesetters for 379 and ory for like less than 150.
