Default Final decision...GMMG vs. True Duals

Alright guys,
I'm military and originally from CA, I plan on being back in CA and bein stationed there soon. I really want True Duals, but I cant decide if its really worth it to deal with Cops and Smog...plus the bases in CA, from what I hear require you to get smogged!
You guys think I should just settle for the GMMG???
Let me know what you guys think!

i used to have dumped duals. but i hated how low they were. and i would have preferred that it went out the back. but instead i just put on an ORY and hooker cat back. i dont regret it. but true duals do sound good for sure.

I would not call it "settling" either way is great. I would get the duals personally, but I like the GMMG. I want to trade my duals for the GMMG actually.

^ werd. I live in NJ which is not exactly a passive state, emissions wise, but I don't regret my decision for TDs for a second. The sound is unreal, the cost is great.

Why do duals affect emissoins? If you're running stock headers and CATS just slap the duals on where the Y pipe would noramlly be.

hey im at the Miramar base in San Diego. I didnt have to smog my car to get a base decal cause its a newer car. but i might have just been lucky that day at the base decal place. i'de say GMMG, but are true duals legal for smog inspection, i'de think you would fail the visual inspection. Im lucky i have a FL plate, haha no CA smog tests

Not emissions per say, I should clarify... in NJ I believe dumped exhaust is "frowned upon". You're right though, cats shouldn't make a difference, and if push comes to shove, I put cats on and run the duals under the axle out the back.

Go GMMG. The only true benefit of true duals is sound. GMMG dynoed 500+ horsepower cars with open headers, then put the GMMG on. It was only a loss of about 3 hp. No need to deal with the cops and smog people out here if you don't have to.

If you get here before I leave, and have problems getting a base decal, pm me. I was able to get one for my car.

Yeah true duals will pass smog visually as long as the factory cats are in place. Even with you go with the gmmg which sounds great imo and you did not have cats in it you would not pass smog. There are also no smog legal aftermarket approved cats for our cars even though most smog shops dont know that. Anyways i would go with true duals out the back.

True duals

You can pass emissions if all they do is an OBDII plug in diagnostic.

I passed with longtubes, no cats, dumped duals, TSP MS3, no AIR and no EGR.

you live in indiana. he's in CA, the cesspool of america. he won't get away with that crap.

get the GMMG. it's legal, sounds good, performs great and is loud. it's not worth putting up with all the crap you have to go through with true duals. not to mention it's stainless steel, will last nearly forever and has great ground clearance.

"Let them know you're coming" haha, who the Cops???
Thats all I'm worried about, is the attention and possibility of a Cop writing me up etc...
I wonder if I could just keep my WA state plates to keep them off me, theres ways around it being military..........but I dunno, emissions standards are just going to get worse with time.
The only thing with the GMMG is, I want it louder than stock. The only way I think I could manage that is by putting in a new Y/Cats and maybe even Shorties. I know it wouldnt improve HP, but would definetely change the sound.
Thanks for all the responces guys!!!!! ...I still cant decide
