Default Questions about CME setup...pretty interesting

I've been doing my research on a CME setup for about a week now trying to decide if I want to go through with it. One thing I've noticed is they cost a shitload of money for the whole setup. So I'm trying to get around it without paying to much money. First off I think you guys need to have a look at this thread of what I'm about to do. https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...&highlight=cme

Basicially the guy had a Loundmouth catback, right? Then bought some aftermarket CME tips from e-bay. Had a welder weld on some 90 degree angled pipes to the cme tips. And then welded the the pipes coming from his catback, to the CME tips/90* bends. The only problem the guy said he had, was to recenter his LM catback so the CME tips would be centered. And he did that by drilling some holes in the brackets. My only question is, could I just use my stock catback to do this? And do you guys thank trying to get my catback centered will be a major headache? I'm only 18 and don't have alot of money or experience with modifing anything on these cars. And if I really messed something up my parents would kill me. But all in all it seems pretty cheap, and yet I could have the looks of a cme. Thanks for any help

Joel

first off you are going to have $700 in tips and a valance. so getting out cheap will not be an option. secondly you have to locate a valance which is a headache all its own. ive been trying to find one for a project and the only one ive been able to find was $330 and it was new.

ls2 bait: I've spotted a few used valences for around $270-300 and the tips off ebay are $200. So 700 seems a little steep to me. Also I have around 500 to spend on a system (never said I was getting a steal) but at least I'm not paying 900 for a brand new SLP set.

I can't think of a reason that you cannot use your stock catback. I added CME to my car last year when stuff was still available.

No matter what you will need to spend some time lining it up. You may notice a lot of them do not line up right. I spent quite a bit of time getting mine right.

I have a quad tip (SLP) laying aroung I would let go cheap. PM me if interested.

Good Luck.

I just sold a set of used CME dual tips with 90 degree bends for 325 on ebay. I think 700 is a pretty good estimate

i think that it looks like crap.

dosent sound like you have the know how to do it yourself either.. if you screw something up you would end up buying it twice, or it would look like crap. so if you are going to do it buy the kit

You should definately have more than $500 if you wanna tackle this project. If youve got the money its definately worth it. This is the best looking exhaust there is for these cars.
