Default Stock Z28 exhaust Vs. SLP Dual/Dual

How much of a gain will I get from swapping the stock cat back to an SLP dual/dual?

I'd guess about 5 HP on a stock car.

You'll gain just as much as any other performance muffler. The SLP Dual/Dual (while quiet) is one of the best flowing out there.

My car somehow feels faster through the dual/dual than with the cutout open.

I want to keep the car with the stealth approach. Presently the car has a stock exhaust. After the head cam upgrade the exhaust is badly in need of upgrading. The plan is for QTP's, catted Y, and SLP dual/dual. Any recommendation where to find them? Lately the only ones I've seen are pretty hacked up.

I doubt a large non straight thru muffler really flows as well as it would go against the laws of physics and fluid dynamics. However yes you should see a small gain on a stock car. Probably 5-10rwhp. On a more extreme setup you will likely see much higher gains.

I think he's not considering that all the exhaust does not flow through the cutout.

No as the exhaust doesn't have a cutout stock does it.

Most aftermarket catbacks add about 12rwhp. I would expect that the Dual/Dual does at tleast that.

What's the difference between this SLP exhaust and the dual/dual? Is the only difference the tips?

That is the slp 2 out on the left. It has 2 tips that exit side by side on the left side of the car. It is a straight through design muffler. The slp dual dual is a more like the typical catback exhaust. It has dual tips that exit on each side of the car. This is the slp dual dual exhaust.

I want the dual/dual but SLP doesn't make them anymore. I know the kit I list has two pipes exiting on the drivers side (don't like the look) but curious if the systems flow the same. The used dual / dual's I've seen are either over priced or hacked up.

ive got a dual/dual setup id be willing to sell for about.....3k

naah but seriously you should just keep your eye on the for sale section. I love how the dual/dual is pretty quiet but not too quiet in my opinion. I just cant wait to get long tubes on it. Then it should be absolute perfection!

BTW: if you really want the exhaust ill let it go for $2500

That muffler is quiet. I picked up one for free a few weeks back and swapped it on for the flowmaster that was on the car. I'm not sure I like it, its almost too quiet.

The 2OTL is much louder than the Dual Dual. I would love to get my hands on a DD too. I currently run the stock Z28 exhaust with a cut-out but it is only 2.75" and my Y is 3.5". So quite a bottle neck.

This is a picture off an ebay ad for SLP SS exhaust from a 2000 SS. Is the only difference the tips? Same sound and flow?

that is NOT an SLP dual dual - that's a factory GM SS exhaust, not the SLP option

the muffler on the dual dual looks like the one in post #12 in this thread. if the muffler doesn't look exactly like that, it's not a dual dual

Since I'm having no luck finding a good used dual / dual at a reasonable price what's the next quietest cat back, hooker?
