Who really cares at the end of the day? I sure in the hell don't you guys like the mustang sound so much go buy one of the god damn things! be sure to get you a early SN95 with a 4.6 and a auto so you can hear the exhaust longer while your struggling to reach the posted speed limit! sheesh!

Not really, sure they sound good, the SC cobras run great. If ya want your LS1 to sound like one trade it in on one. Thats all I'm saying This is post is 5 pages of nothingness. 8 second Toyaota Supra owners don't complaing they wish their cars sound like stangs. I everyone hates how their LS1 sounds they should of bought a stang to start with.
probably not ... he just pointing out how many ls1 owners like the sound of a mustang better.
I love the way the OHV mustangs sound, always have. But I've had probably half the people who've ridden in or heard my car compliment how it sounds. It is stock with a lid and flowmaster muffler that was on it when i bought it. I definitely wouldnt trade it for a non-blown stang though

while i enjoy your logic, the one thing that's strikingly different - and what i think is the main culprit of the sound difference more than anything - LS1's are aluminum, mustang engines are iron. you could take the exact same engines, same cams, same exhaust layout, same firing order, same liters and cubic inches, but one being iron and one aluminum - they'll sound different - and the iron one will probably sound better
I won't say the block construction doesn't have anything to do with the sound, but the majority of the sound is intake and primarily exhaust noise. I'm sure they will absorb the sound a bit differently, but we're not talking air cooled vs. waterjacketed block by any means.
that being said, i think another big culprit is the exhaust layout. mustangs have true duals and f-bodies don't - and when they do, all they use are bullet mufflers. dynomax bullets, magnaflow bullets, sweet thunders, spiral flows...all bullet mufflers. i think the reason why single chambers sound the best and come closest to the mustang sound is because they're the CLOSEST to a real muffler we can fit! if we could put 2 40 series flowmaster mufflers in a TD setup, i bet it would sound AMAZING, way better than even single chambers. if i had money, i'd do it.
kinda the same thing I said - worded differently

An F-body with LT's, H-pipe, dual mufflers in front of the axle and rear tail pipes that exit on either side at the bumper would be perfect - if you could make it fit around the panhard bar...
I sure as hell won't be bashing in the rear footwells to fit two-chamber flows. I like the way mustangs sound - they have a sound thats almost as prominient as a harley (you know when you hear a Harley, but it's hard to tell a gixxer from a kawasaki) but I love the way my GMMG sounds!
