http://videos.streetfire.net/Player....B-BFD2E07EE26DMy next exhaust setup will have an H instead of an X and either single chamber flowmasters or longer Flo Pro Twisters then what I have now, that is after I get around to a cam swap.

Add a twin turbo kit exhaling through open downpipes. Here's a soundclip.

that twin turbo clip posted earlier sounds amazing though.
personally, I don't think there's many that can compete with that classic Mustang note. it's like how Harleys have that signature note... cept the Mustang actually sounds good.

on the other hand... like it was stated earlier, they can't really replicate the lopey, old-school sound like the LS1 can.

i very rarely enjoy a mustang exhaust note... probably sounds weird, but they always just sound too... i dunno, lazy, I guess...
Ford = 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8
Chevy = 1-8-7-2-6-5-4-3
But, rememeber that #1 is the drivers front cylinder on a chevy, with the other odd numbers following down that bank. #1 on a ford is the passenger front cylinder, with 2,3 & 4 following on that bank. So # 5 on a ford is # 1 on an LS1, draw it up and you'll see what I mean.
Personally, I think if you could put an LS1 under the hood of a 5.0L and bolt it up to the exhaust, it might sound strikingly similar. I think a lot of the sound is the pipe layout and the muffler locations. An F-body with LT's, H-pipe, dual mufflers in front of the axle and rear tail pipes that exit on either side at the bumper would be perfect - if you could make it fit around the panhard bar...

I'm sure difference in OHC & OHV make a difference, but the flow of air through the system is where most of your sound is coming from. Replicate the airflow, and you should come close with the sound.
