Default Gibson exhaust????

I bought my car used w/ a cat back system already installed. I checked underneath to see what kind it is and it turns out to be "Gibson". I have heard of them before, but never on an LS1. Anyone heard anything good or bad about them?

I was about to buy one for my old jeep due to the quaitly of them atleast for a 4L motor.

Give us a review of it, I'm guessing you and I aren't the only people who havn't heard of them on an ls1.

Are you sure it's not just a Gibson Muffler or tips on a fabricated system?? I also have NEVER heard of a complete Gibson system for LS1 f bodies.

Gibson is mainly a truck exhaust company. They do not make anything for the f-body crowd, although you can buy some of their mufflers seperate, so apparantly someone had one fabbed up for your car.

I have never seen gibson on an LS1 before either. Probably because they are not made for it.

Hmmm....well it looks like it's a new system all together for me!!! It's wayyyyyyyy too quiet for my liking anyways so I think I'm going to go w/ the LM 2 setup. Thanks for all the help!

Yes Gibson now does offer a Catback system for F-Bodies. I was going to submit my 2001 Camaro SS, but instead had my good friend submit his stock 1998 Z28. It should be on the site very soon. I have not had a chance to hear it yet, but it sounds good from what I am told.

You probably have just the muffler, since the catback has just been released a couple of weeks ago.

A Gibson muffler made of quality stainless sound good to me, keep the catback and install a cutout for some added loudness. Do you have any pics of this system?

I have the Gibson on my 2000 TA. It's a nice quality system with a deep tone and it's not obnoxious.

Four month old thread now become a 10 year old thread. I guess it's useful as a reminder that this catback is out there and generally garners good reviews.

I wasn't aware that Gibson made LS1 headers. Where did you buy them?

I have LM 2 with longtubes on the car I just purchased. The drone is too much for me. I don't mind the rasp though. I'm considering a borlamouth or magnamouth conversion...but remembered that Gibson makes a catback for a decent price. I had gibson on my NNBS 2007 Tahoe and really liked the sound. I wonder if there is any drone.

My only Gibson experience was with the old 2002 Silverado. The mufflers last forever, but IMO are too heavy and restrictive for a high performance ride. I have heard more sound reduction through lighter and better flowing mufflers, but I doubt they would equal Gibson in longevity. Take that experience for what it's worth.
