Bringing this to life again...
I recently installed TD's over the axle with 2 sweet thunder muffs out back and out the drivers side (2otl style). I've got the dreaded BLLAAATTTT sound!!
The car will be tuned soon, should I count on that to fix my problem or are my tips adding to the wet fart sound? I may dump it anyways, I bought the setup off an LT1 guy and I don't really like the looks of the tips.

maybe look into a dual in/dual out muffler like the bassani true dual setup...thats what im thinking of doing and eliminating my 2 spiral flows that are over the axle. feel free to elaborate on this theory guys.

Yeah I was thinkin about that. I was looking into a dynomax ultraflow welded dual in/dual out muffler. If it sounds anything like the dual 3" mufflers of this style that I had on my old 79 camaro then I'll be pretty pumped.

I have absolutely no rasp with my sweet thunders. I know i angled the mufflers towards the tires, just a little more to the floor. It's kind of hard to explain, but they are not pointing at the ground, thus eliminating that reverb effect.

I got rid of the blaaaaattt as soon as I got the gears/stall. Then well I had a tune done the day after. NO MORE BLLLAAAAAAAAATTTS, just refine rumble.
Pretty awesome. I need to get a video.

hey guys. i'm running sweet thunders and i also get that blatt sound. i know exactly what your talking about lol. i know i have small exhaust leaks at the header collector and x pipe. so that might be a culprit. but my car is not tuned and it is running rich so that might be a culprit as well. I don't worry about it too much right now. u can't beat sweet thunders at WOT. you just can't.

Mine aren't dumped so its not a 'reverb' effect happening.
I think it has something to do with that muffler design and maybe unburned fuel? I dunno, mines not tuned either so that may be part of it.
I think to start with I'm gonna ditch these small 2otl tips and see if that helps a bit. Here in a couple weeks hopefully it will be tuned and that sound will be gone. I'll keep everyone posted.
