Default Eliminating BLAAATTT sound from TD's?

I initially put on my TD's with dumps and loved the sound besides how loud it was inside the car. I then extended the duals out the back under the axle and it sounds great at idle and WOT, but makes a BLAAATTTT sound on part throttle that I don't really care for. Is there any way to eliminate this? Is it the mufflers (Sweet Thunder) or what. I don't want to ditch the TD's, and I don't want to spend a lot of money swapping mufflers, but I want to change that part throttle sound. Any ideas or input? Thanks.

Either switch mufflers or add cats. That sound you're getting is known as rasp, that is unless you have a horrible exhaust leak somewhere in the system.

I see you have an H pipe, switching to an X will help that somewhat also.

I don't know about the rasp idea. It never had that sound before I extended the duals and another member said he had the same thing with Flowmaster 1-chambers. It certainly doesn't sound like any rasp I've ever heard before. Any other ideas?

Had the same sound and added cats. It helps but the blat is still there. We are both using chambered exhaust. Is the sound inherit to them?

If it didn't sound like that until you extended it out the rear, i'd leave it dumped. just my .02

But like I said in the original post, dumped is too loud inside the car, especially with the stall. I want the volume of running them out the back without the blatty sound.

Is it mandrel bent out the back or not? i wonder if regular radius bends contribute to that sound or not?

No, mandrel bent to the mufflers and then crush bent after that. However, they aren't extreme bends. I wondered about that too.

I haven't heard your car enough to know. I'll have to check that out next time we hook up.

If you have non-mandrel bends, that could be the culprit...but I don't know, just my 2 cents...

I just got an H-pipe set-up with sweet thunders as well, all mendrel bend and im getting an unusual sound from under the car not from the tail pipes. I wouldnt really say its a blatt sound but similar to the sound you get when you hit the gas at a really low RPM. Does your car have a tune? mine doesnt, maybe our cars are running lean, cud this effect the sound?

I think I have that also when I hit the gas at low RPMs slowly. Does it sound like a LOUD as truck w/o muffler kinda sound? like a glass pack kindish? I dunno, I can't describe the sound. (The only part I kinda don't like.) I also don't have a tune, w/ ORX system. I know its not rasp or anything like that.

I would describe mine like that, its def not a rasp either. Im gona be getting a tune eventually, we'll see if that does the trick.

And I wouldn't say its a drone b/c were describing more of a sound coming from beneth the car, not really out of the tailpipes. An example of bad droning is an SLP LM crusing at about 1500-2500 RPM.
