Default What kind of times can I Expect???

I just bought my 2000 Trans Am A4 this last June but I haven't had much time (or cash) to do anything with it yet. The little that I have done is install a race transmission and a 3400 stall and was most impressed with how hard my T/A launches, it was like a whole new car. Unfortunately, when I took the car to the track I was a little dissappointed with a 13.45 @ 101.

Over the winter while the bird is sleeping I'm going to be installing: SLP Lid, Smooth Bellows, Ported TB, LS6 Intake, Pacesetter LT's, Full Exhaust(not sure whether to do straight pipes or not), and a computer tune.

Am I too far off in expecting mid to low 12's with these mods??
Should I possibly change out my 2.73 gears for 3.73's to make this possible?

Thanks

Easiest way to find out is spend 20 bucks go run your car.

So many other things varry for us to shoot a # is worthless.

I would say yes Gears would help a ton depending what your goals are and what you want to do with the car 3:73s might be a bit much for your car.

well a 13.45 seems a lil low to me. especially after the stall. what was your 60? but i would go with 3.73's personally. i dunno what the prob is with your car but that time seems really low and your speed is really low.

3.73's will wake that A4 up quite a bit. You denifately need to invest in a tire that will help out your 60'. If you are going to stay on street tires, don't expect too much, unless of course you know what you are doing.

my 60' time was a 1.88 on my best run (think investing in drag radials would be a good idea!)

Stock your car should run 13.4 or better.

I'm pretty sure that a lot of the problem at the track was that I was on street tires. They hook up pretty well for street tires, but I bolted a pair of Nitto DR's on and it was a definate difference. I think to get the times I'm wanting I should also throw in a pair of DR's, Plugs and wires. as well as the mods this winter

With those mods you should see low 12's, if you become a good driver, have a perfect weather day, and get a little lucky you couild pull high 11's. I have seen it, but don't quote me on it...

edit: Yes, gears would be a good idea. But maybe just some 3.42's instead of 3.73's, but I don't know your goals for the car.

btw, you obviously had some money to spend, I mean you got a race transmission and a stall + install (~$2800, right?)

I got the race trans for free because the original trans went out like 2 days after I bought the car. The dealer was like 100 miles away from me so I told him I had a local shop that could repair the problem. I talked with the shiop owner, and we just omitted the "Stage II Race Prepped" part from the ticket.

Stage II Race Trans and 3400 stall with Lockup completely installed.... $400

You also might want to seafoam your car(theirs a sticky in the general maintence section), and change your spark plugs. just to make sure your car is running to its fullest right now.
