Should I buy?
There are some intake manifold for sale on Ebay right now super cheap. One is the BBK SSI intake and it is going for $399.95. There is also a Weiand(Lingenfelter) for $399.99. While I know that most eople prefer the FAST LSX intake, I just can't stomach the cost of it. What I want to know is, is either of these intakes worth buying at these prices, and if so, which is better?

In simple (and of course IMO ) NO!
If you search you will generally find that they don't perform any better than a LS1 intake. So it means a LS6 is superior.
For bling factor they can be benifical if they are polished. And some claim they are good for high boost applicatoins, but no one has ever had any issues with the LS6 intake in this respect.
Direct port nitrous can be a benefit, but its for a select few.
For the money I personally beleive the LS6 intake with a ported stock TB is a great purchase.
The FAST 90 with a decent 90mm TB would be my preferred choice.
There is one last contender, the new Professional Products Typhoon intake. It's pretty cheap ($415 satin, $520 polished). It's aluminium and uses a 85mm TB (~$200). Early indication is it certainly matches the LS6 intake and in the upper rpms will out perform it (cammed or h/c setups). There is also a 96mm variant on it's way. This shows a lot of potential.
Downside, is aluminium is heavier than composit. And some claim heat soak is an issue. Personally I think 90% of it is bull. Sure composit should have lower (more consistant) IAT's, but I don't think it's by enough to most people to worry about.
There are 2 threads on the Professional Products intake in this forum, do a search.

98 camaro With long tubes, BBk intake, K&n Fipk, ORY, and SLP LM I made 310 hp 310 tq. On a Built 4l60e, with a tci 3000. This week it will be tuned and ran at the track.
Every one at the dyno day said for a untuned, unlocked 98... 310 is not bad at all..
I think alot of people are dead set on the fast 90 fad right now.. I purchased this intake for nitrous. not to mention you can chill it at the track with some ice.
Ill be quick to say I think this is a nice intake.

Well my 98 M6 dead stock accept for the aluminum flywheel pulled 313hp and 326tq. I felt a difference with the LS6 addition. I say go with the LS6 if you are just looking for more power.

Ya from what ive heard the ls6 intake has more low end torque and power than the LS1 intake. Also pulls harder through the rpm's. Ive felt the difference ive got a 99 TA and my buddy has an 02 which comes with the ls6 intake and his definitely pulled harder all the way to 6k rpm.. LS6 bbk
