1998 Z28 exhaust interchangability

I have a 1998 Z28 that does not have the stock exhaust. I now need to get the stock exhaust back on but I don't have it. I have been offered the stock system from a 2000 Z28 (manifolds, Y pipe, cats, piping) and also from a 1998 Trans Am. Will either of these systems bolt up to mine to get it back to stock? Is either one of them better than the other

Hi

You need the AIR and EGR. The 98 TA will fit the same. I believe they dropped the AIR and EGR in 2000. Not positive but I would check first.

you need the whole thing? from naifolds back? are you selling the car or for emissins? Check local junk yards, but it would be a bitch to pull all of that sutff, and they may charge you a pretty penny. but the 2000 model stuff form a t/a should work.

Yeah basically I need to get it back to stock. The shop I had the exhaust done at originally kept my parts because I didnt have a way to get transport them back home, and they went out of business shortly after, before I had a chance to pick up my stock parts.

I need to get it smogged at a test-only shop, so my LT's and ORY aren't going to cut it. I hate to lose them but I don't have a way around it that I can see. I would rather have a slower car that can pass smog than a faster one that can't I guess

you can always TRY to get a sticker first, who knows you may luck out or find a shady shop

In CA they have 2 smog stations, the good old shady regular smog shop, and the state run test-only shop. I have to go to the state run one. Bascially if your **** doesn't have CARB stickers on it (CA air resource board, certified emissions-legal), you aren't passing. Also, if your cats are moved from their stock location, that is a no-no too. My buddy went to the local test-only shop and had a ton of trouble even though all his stuff was CARB approved, but the stickers had worn off so he had to get the proof to show the shop that it was legal.
