Question egr/air questions

Ok, right now I have a stock 2000 trans am ws6, and am looking to throw in a full exhaust in the next few weeks, what i was wondering is what would be the downsides to deleting the egr system, and also what the air system is for and would i need to delete it also?, sorry if any of this doesnt sound right, new to ls1's thanks in advance

The downside is, cost to have it tuned out. If you are allready getting a tune then that can be taken care of. Now if you dont want to get rid of it then most headers come with air tube provisions.

depends on how you want to run your setup? with emissions? or without... I chose without and the tuning is pretty simple (anyone that does tuning can delete your rear O2 sensors, EGR codes and AIR codes in like 10 minutes) also do you have emissions laws where you are from? I do, but I deleted the codes myself and still passed emissions (yesterday in fact) I just find that all the emissions junk gets annoying and removing it frees up engine bay room and makes things look nicer

thats why i was wondering if i really need it and what it would effect by taking it out, i live in SC and we dont have like an annual emissions check or anything around here, so if i did take it out what would it effect on my car? would i have problems down the road if i took it out? or whats the point of it being on there if its not needed in the engine? just emissions garbage?

Like ChaseSS said, it would help free up some clutter in your engine bay and make it look a lot nicer. Wouldnt affect the car in any way, its just there for emissions purposes

I was thinking about this the other day. Im going to buy LT's but with the emissions. So the only reason people delete air/egr is for better appearance and less clutter? If thats the case i wont bother removing air or egr
