A tune is not generally required, but it may maximise performance. If you plan on more mods, hold off on the tune for a while.

I was wondering the same thing, I've heard stories of cars running like complete **** after bolting on headers. Just how long should you wait?

you can go as long as you want, all it will do is make your car run a little rich and may hurt your gas milage a few MPG, hell I have LT's and no tune and still get 23-26 MPG was getting closer to 30 b4 I put them on, Im savin up for a cam so goin to get it tuned after that, not worth wasting money for 2 tunes

Did you mean to say, what style is preferred, the Race or emissions? If that's what you mean, it's personal preference. If you are tuning the EGR and AIR out, then I'd do race style (no fittings or provisions for EGR/AIR), if you dont want to tune out, do the emissions style. To me, it's personal preference (I did emissions).

Your WOT AFR will not go rich, it will go leaner.

Your closed loop AFR may vary a little from stoich though due to the O2 sensors being farther down the exhaust steam, which cools the sensor down.

A tune is definitely not needed after headers.

Is there a HP difference in the two? I'll still new to this whole headers thing and don't understand.

I wouldn't think there is... same header just with small tubes coming off a few primaries for the emissions garbage er stuff.
