Default 85mm MAF- Which is better

Which 85mm maf is better, the Z06 or the SLP one. Or is the slp maf basicly a z06 maf? Im sure they flow the same but I mean easier to tune.

neither... stick with the stocker

the slp is actually a grantelli one just w/an SLP logo... but they should both flow and tune the same (although i have tuners having problems with the SLP)

It seems kinda defeating the purpose of having a 90mm intake/tb, 85mm lid and having the stock size maf (not sure what size stock is but know its quit smaller).

you put on an ofter market MAF you will pull an SES code. The stock MAF is good for a decent amount of HP

It's not.

Although the MAF is smaller the air will flow thru it faster. It's proven that the stocker can handle way in excess of 500rwhp.

Plus I read a thread a while back where I think it was Tony @ AFR claimed on a h/c/i bolt on LS1 making around 480rwhp a 85mm MAF (when tuned) was only worth in the region of 3-5bhp.

Neither, of sorts,

A PACEparts CALIBRATED Z06/ls6 MAF is best. Why? Because it is calibrated, the tuning numbers for the range of MAF digital signals corresponds to stock ls1 tuning, not stock z06 tuning, which is very DIFFERENT. Most likely there would be little to no tuning required, but it's always smart to get a tune when you combine lots of parts (do it at the same time when you add headers and other boltons to save money).

As far as a 85 mm actually being worth it, that's debatable. I have not seen solid proof either way, except for my own testing, which showed better throttle response with the larger MAF, much like porting the TB.

I say this over and over, I can't see why porting the TB would have gains, and going to a larger MAF does not. Until someone can prove that, I am going to say it's worth it on a bolt on or above car.

3-5 hp would be worth 150 bucks.

The SLP 85mm MAF sensor is the SAME AS the Z06 85mm MAF sensor which is the SAME AS the Delphi 85mm MAF sesnor.

I like my Pace unit. Feels like it's worth a few HP.

I doubt that you can feel that. IT is one of those all in your head things.

I felt a tangible difference after installing my PACE calibrated MAF sensor. It seemed like the car picked up throttle response accross all rpm ranges. I bet it was worth more than a few hp.

Ask anyone if they felt a difference with a ported tb, and most will say yes. A ported tb has been shown to give an additional 10 hp alone.

I'd be interested to know how each of these units is calibrated. I can tell you for sure if you pop a Z06 MAF straight off a vette, you're going to be in a world of hurt because the frequencies don't line up. So, therefore, PACE [and possible SLP--I don't know for sure] somehow takes this into account with their units. I doubt PACE and SLP have the same exact calibration, so I bet that would explain the difference in results between the two. You never hear of anyone with a PACE unit having any problems.

you may pick up a few rwhp (if that, at any) but your definetely not going to feel that (more of a mental thing like jordan said)

this is more a mental thing also as it's very hard to actually feel a "seat of the pants" difference from just approximently 10rwhp although numbers wise, yes you can see that it's there and possibly a crisper throttle response
