Default Can I remove the heat shield where the exhaust goes over the axel?

Mine is always vibrating and I'm thinking of just removing it completely. Anything good or bad to say about doing this???

Thanks
Chris

FWIW:

After the car is nice and hot, I'd check and feel around behind the back seat to make sure none of the upholstery is getting warm from the exhaust.

Umm, the 99 and up cars have a plastic gas tank... not sure how it would react to getting hot... that's the only reason nime still there.

Plastic tanks are no problem. 3 inch pipe with no heat shield on my car for at least 6 months. I checked it yesterday and no signs of damage.

Maybe using a bit of blue silicone(or any heat res. silicone)on the heat shield mounting area to prevent vibration and noise would be a safer option.
Just 2 centavos.
